I honestly am trying to avoid getting the cookie-cutter content. I'd rather get a real Porsche, or nothing. There's a (very) slim chance I can, but no promises... The Ruf content... It's not the same IMHO.
Can you say why it's "unfair"? Right now I only know of iRacing which has it in a current title. No? And I didn't license it, so I don't see how it applies to what I said anyway.
I think I've misunderstood the term cookie cutter possibly, I thought you were implying that you were trying to avoid churning out similar content to other sims? The reason it's unfair is that even though Ruf has been licensed by iRacing and Raceroom that shouldn't be a reason for ignoring it if you fail to get the Porsche license. Sorry, I'm a huge Porsche fan and currently own a Boxster Spyder, if you can't get the real license then I'd happily take the Ruf one to get my virtual Stuttgart fix, they have produced some great cars over the years
No, that is what I said. But I said that *I* am trying to avoid them. Though *I* didn't license the C6.R that you brought up. We'll have to see. I'm in a decent position, just depends on the legality and contract negotiation. Unfortunately that can sometimes take a long time, I just closed a contract last week that I've been working on since 2010 (not for content, for external licensing of our software - which is my real job). It can take a loooong time with sometimes a fairly constant back and forth.
Well obviously Porsche is infinitely preferable to Ruf so I wish you all the luck getting that! Failing that I know that Lotus are in a lot of other Sims but it'd be great to have an Elise Motorsport or Exige with the Rfactor 2 handling ...
Blimey two years -- you must have been pulling your hair out!?! Guess that would be a "high-end" customer facility?
I think any license is good, any chance of getting some real data is always a positive regardless how esteemed the manufacturer is.
Don't worry, I believe simracing community will make some mod There is a lot of very nice Porsche mods for rF1
Some just take a long time. It usually depends how much money is involved. It's more annoying to talk to someone for a year, and get nothing for it.
