I have had this problem with every build ( since i cant even remember but surely 0.5x on wards ) that when i open the online race thing and the game opens, no server s there. It says "no games available". I tried switching my AV and firewall off, no result.... I havent installed it in c drive, its a custom directory, if this is of any importance.
I don't have my install on C: either and have never had any trouble with the server list showing servers. So I think you can rule that out. I don't know what to suggest, just wanted to let you know it works for me installed on different partition (same drive). EDIT: Just to confirm the servers aren't down, I launched it and no problem, servers are showing here.
try removing your player.plr, and multiplayer.ini files from ...\Documents\rFactor2\UserData\player the game will rebuild them new, unaltered. re-test connecting to online matchmaker server list.
Nothing.... Can someone upload a snap shot of the rfactor launcher program after logging in ? Just a bit curious how it should look cause after i do log in the thing below online race app is still click-able.
The button is always clickable. That would allow for someone to change their login. The trick is: does the text box say "Welcome ... (your name)"?
You need to forward ports if you aren't hosting now? Probably just blocked them in the firewall or something.
normally, when the game installs, and you attempt to go online first time, windows prompts you to allow the game through the firewall, you give permission, and your done... there is nothing more to make rf2 go... unless your trying to host, only then does the router require ports to be opened. *start/settings/control panel/windows firewall... allow programs through windows firewall/add program... "rFactor2.exe" your router could have a firewall blocking rf2 also, google for your routers firewall instructions.
Run TCPview and see if any packets are getting out/coming back in. http://technet.microsoft.com/en-gb/sysinternals/bb897437.aspx
Spadge, i did that and it shows 2 rfactor.exe files both with 3 sent but one with 11 received and the other with 10 received. JGraf, my router is d link dsl 2750u which doesnt seem to have and in-built firewall protection ( as far as i know ). As in for the normal firewall i didnt ask me anytime but i have made an exception in the firewall settings.
You could try giving your machine a static IP, it might help. This used to help me when I was trying to connect to car sim browsers years ago. Ive just looked up your Router, 2750U you say, Your router IP is 192.168.1.1 ? If your router IP is that, then try these settings in your local area connection properties. Firstly connect to your Router IP in browser, 192.168.1.1. Then see if DHCP is enabled/disabled. It should really be disabled for this to work. Lets give your machine an IP of 192.168.1.105 Subnet mask 255.255.255.0 Default gateway - 192.168.1.1 Prefered DNS -192.168.1.1, Then apply, Give it a whirl matey, youve got nothing to lose!
have you formatted your machine since you first had this issue? The only thing I can think of is that the first time rF2 connected, you clicked to not allow it. I'm absolutely certain that this is an issue with your machine and/or connection, and apart from telling you to check your firewall exceptions, etc, I don't know what else to advise other than what everyone else already is...
Hmmm... No i havent formatted. Will rfactor work on WIndows 8 pro ? I got it a few weeks back, and i might install it if rfactor 2 supports it. This way a format is also done.
