That Eagle is a beautiful car. I'm hoping that with ISI being about the only (well, there's T10, but they don't do classics) US-based sim racing company, that they can strike a deal to get it in the game. Speed TV recently did a 1/2-hour special on the Eagle a month or two ago. It looked fantastic under the studio lighting. Anyway, I'm a relative newb when it comes to F1 (only got into it in the past 6 or 7 years), but I really like the looks of the Williams FW14. I know it's a technologically significant car, but I love the cleanliness of it. The thing is so fricken' wide and low. As far as paint goes, though, I really like the current Williams as well. Reminds me of the old British (Scottish?) rally helmets for some reason--can't think of the guy's name who wore it...anyway.
I thought it was a candidate for ugliest F1. As well it is a dead-heat with the Fan Car for the seriously dumb idea trophy. lol
I tend to appreciate good design and lines that "work". Early-90s F1 cars are some of the best-looking that ever existed, but if I were to choose one from the last 5 years, I'd choose the Red Bull RB6. Sleek, purposeful, technically brilliant. But my favourite of all time is one from the 50s... the Maserati 250F. Elegant and poised.
I personally am not real fond of the wavy wings on the new F1 cars. I know that technically they are superior for downforce and such, but they scream ugly to me. I too am a fan of the Eagle as they were sleek and look so stuck to the track when they showed them making corners at low angles. As far as livery, I have always been a fan of the JPS liveries with the black with gold highlights.
The 90s era was the best era in my view. Well, Late 80s to late 90s. Cars I can think of from that era 1988 Mclaren 1991 Minardi 1991 Ferrari 1992 Footwork 1993 Mclaren 1993 Williams 1993 Footwork 1993 Sauber 1994 Mclaren 1994 Williams 1994 Benetton 1994 Ferrari pretty much all the 1994 cars 1995 Ferrari 1995 Minardi 1996 Mclaren 1996 Williams 1996 Benetton 1996 Green Forti 1997 Jordan 1997 Benetton 1997 Minardi 1997 Sauber 1998 Mclaren 1998 Williams 1998 Minardi 1998 Sauber 1998 Tyrrell
Here's one of my favourites. I just love the paint scheme! Less is more http://static.flickr.com/3073/2317149230_d4ab379495.jpg Another one is the Ferrari 312B: http://www.motorstown.com/images/ferrari-312b-03.jpg
It was a nice car indeed! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ferrari_312T#312T2 Tim start hussling for this one! PLEAAAASE! Maybe this photo of internets favorite cat will make you work a bit more for it
I know it's not a car but my dad found this in the shed the other day. View attachment 4560 I think it is off a 50's grand prix engine. We're not sure though, might be off an allard dragster. Any ideas?
I really found this one of the best looking cars, untill yesterday when I looked for a shot to post here I now find the rear of the side-pod (just in front of the rear wheels) looking ugly But from that angle it does indeed look great
Love the John Player Special car liveries (and cars): http://forums.watchuseek.com/attach...ng-smoking-lotus-john-player-special_1972.jpg http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3204/2687483494_84378be495.jpg
Great piccies so far guys. I detest the modern F1 cars, as they are truly ugly things and wish that they would return to wider, shorter cars with bigger rear tyres and wings, etc.. and no driver aids of any kind. But being prototypes that probably won't happen. So I will miss the days of F1 cars sliding through corners, having a little slide under power out of corners.. all the things that made it interesting to watch back in the day. And.. Ferrari 312 would be my choice for best F1 car of all time.
That velocity stack could be off of a number of cars that had fuel injection as pretty much all race engines with fuel injection used them.
