I started a new thread becuase this issue is separate. I'm trying to use add alpha relfect but it is not pulling it from my texture. I can make the alpha channel all white, or all black, and it looks the same. Have tried 15% to 100% blend and no change. Mat ID 1 or 4 for the cube, and still nothing. I even made sure the mapping was correct and matched channel 1. I'm just lost i'm fighting this on my cars, rims, pretty much anything that uses add alpha reflect. [SOLVED] I used the torrent build, deleted all rf2 related stuff, re-installed from the http download, and now my alpha reflect works. But it's still extremely weak on the WCCARBODY. I could have just had a bad install.
Is this in showroom or on track? I have noticed that the showroom and the track use the default livery but from different folders. For example, In your .VEH file you have DefaultLivery="rter_01.dds" Now in the showroom it will use this texture but from the Maps folder. But on track it will use this texture from the Teams folder. Easiest fix is to copy the texture to both folders once you have edited it. Hope this helps.
It's both on track at joesville, and also in the showroom. You can see here, the alpha is a fairly light grey. View attachment 4520 But on track, it looks like this. View attachment 4521 Is there something that needs checked specifically on export that i could be missing?

Just the instance tab will do. Up your blend to 100% The reflection is controlled by the alpha channel, but how you have blend at 35%, means that with full white alpha you are only getting 35% reflection. Also play around with your specular power, I have been playing with values up to 85.
I've had it at 100, and down to 15, it always looks exactly the same. View attachment 4524 I originally didn't have the reflect plane stuff checked, just something i tried to see if it change anything.
Only things that looks different to how mine is setup is the reflections cube map. Try using the ISI one CAR_CUBE_DX9.dds (or rename your one to that.) Also how you've named your texture stages WCCARBODY, you only need to do that for the Material, try change those also.
Tried both, no help. I'm so frustrated lol, i've modding for 7 years so it's not like i'm new to it. I have to just be missing something somewhere. I have the v25 plugins installed.
D1, does your rtrainer have a cube effect? I see it has the alpha for it, but i put one of them as all white alpha and it had no change, wonder if i had a bad install, or maybe the build has an issue with alpha reflect.
Ok, i downloaded the new simed, it shows my alpha reflect just fine, and if i export out of simed instead of max, i still have no reflect in game, on track or showroom. Could this be a possible bug in build 118?
Tim, did you do a full install of the new build or an update? Also what are you saving your livery as?
is there a difference between new install or update? cause i updated an have the same issue. in 3dsimed the reflection works an all textures where added to mas file. but ingame there is no reflection. and the alphachanels are white so it should reflect all. or am i wrong?
There are various issues with updating. The problem is it works without problems for some and others have some random issues that may or may not be related to update process. So just to be on the safe side it is best if you save packages folder, uninstall, delete all leftover files related to rf2, then do a full install.
I have no cube on the rtrainer, so i'm going to delete and reinstall rf2. I have one as all black, one as all white alpha channel, no change. So i'm pretty sure i got a bad install and/or download.
