What do we want? When do we want it? Anyway, I was super excited about the news what Niels Heusinkveld could do in rF1. Here is the news: http://www.virtualr.net/niels-heusinkveld-wrc-physics-test-video That looks absolutely awesome! Could this spark a rally mode for rF2?
I think devs have said in some point that rallying and point-to-point racing is coming, but not yet. Rallying needs own, independent RealRoad system, for instance... Cheers!
Besides that, the physics engine rF1 uses isn't the same as the one that rF2 uses. So what Niels is doing is really cool but not totally relevant for rF2
Dirt physics in general need to be at least SHOWN in rF2 before I get excited about rallying in it. Things like CORR trucks, Baja and Oval racers are a pretty big missing segment of the sim racing world and the dirt series doesn't do justice.
Off pavement definitely needs work. If you don't believe me, watch your car in a replay if you leave the track. The car bounces around so much there is no way it is real at the moment.
+1 !!!!! That is seriously impressive! Tim, anything at all you can share about off road, even if just that not thinking about it now?
Because of rallying/hillclimbing I'm definitely going back to rf1 now, there are lots of great tracks (MUST HAVE --> http://www.rfactorcentral.com/detail.cfm?ID=Rally Slovenia with historx its very addictive ). So far I don't remember any info whatsover regarding rf2, except that 2 or 3 years old screenshot
Looks good, great even, apart from the fact that the tyres can't dig into the terrain (like they can in RBR) which would provide some added sharpness in certain situations it looks like it could almost be up there with RBR.
would be sooo great to have rallying in FR2! i would love to see tarmac rally for a start. but i guess, since we didn't see anything rally related in those renderings, we can't expect anything in that direction soon...
Rob must be getting pretty hard up to find sim racing news other than pCars if he thinks some 27 second video is something to be excited about.
I think the off-road implementation is important even for on-road simulation, as in any racing category cars go off-track and that has impact in race results. Just an argument to push off-road devs a little
How 'bout 4 minutes then... http://www.bsimracing.com/2012/09/r...st-tv-view-by-niels-heusinkveld/#.UFpormt5mSM
Ach, now that doesn't look as good anymore. There's no bit at all, the slipangles are much bigger than you normally see in rallying, and the car is just constantly sliding around. It might be fun like that but it ain't rallying.
Narrower road. Some gravel effects. Some bumbs and holes on the track and it's all good. Totally doable!
a 9 second rf rally clip by me. and a clip of my Finke Farm track I made for off road in rf rf was great, rf2 will blow our minds when its done.
ISI have certainly got their work cut out; off road, karting, oval, ice/snow, current road racing etc etc....then not to mention all the rules and stuff associated with each genre of motor racing.......gonna be a long wait for some I think!
Hey Maxy, something I never quite finished.... was getting good, but HDD poo'd http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8ArytD_0jUE&feature=relmfu Would be nice for RF2 to look like this for dirt surfaces and particles once its released http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BgJaVqxssHo&feature=relmfu
