    For F1...

I only drove the karts for one day (haven't driven since then, my hands are honestly that messed up from it, amazing :) ). On quebec medium set the gear ratio to, I think it was 13/87. You will top out on the straights but the added low end acceleration more than makes up for it.

Try adding some front brake bias, maybe try 63 or 64 instead of 60. Also try easing off the toe-out, try bringing it down to -0.3 or so instead of -0.5. These 2 changes should help you with more easier to control/stable corner-entry.

Also, if you have your wheel lock set to auto vehicle set, (I did on mine and it automatically set 187 degrees), try manually upping it. I went from 187 to around 250, even 300, helped me with slides more, but it will make you need to use a bit more steering lock to steer the car and technically is less realistic.

Looking to improve Marussia setup @ Silverstone

I am a very poor driver and worse engineer. Can a better driver someone give me some positive feedback (how to improve) this settings for ISI Marussia at Silverstone.

    Thanks a lot.

I never race online, I am to bad for it.

    Hello,

    Why don't you race online
Only because YOU think you are bad ?

    Bad reason

Learn the track offline then go online.
Respect people faster than you and they will respect you
Ask for infos and they will give you

I always had people encouraging me and saying "have more practice online"
First races, I was fighting for 20th place, now for 15th place.
I'm still not good but I am less bad.
I dont't worry not to be in the top and I've no regrets because I did my best
And dealing with human is more interesting than with machines (AI), that's where you have fun.

    That's why I race online. :)

Just so you know, it's a very difficult car and they were at the bottom of the speed charts that year for a reason. :)

Thanks Jamie, the video is great. The Marussia was the worst car of the grid, but the better performing relatively to the funding.

I can drive the car, but not quick enough (I know lap times achieved with this car by other drivers and I am very far from them)... And Motec gives only partial information (no rear tires temp).

Have you noticed that it is the thread (sharing setups) where no one replies ever to your questions ?

You can ask pretty much anything anywhere on this forum and you have a fair chance of getting a good response.

In this one you'll get everything that you didn't ask (look at it's activity, at a very low level, people know they won't get answers here).

I once got a setup here with brake repartition of 70 % on rear...

For instance someone asked a while ago some tuning advice on the karts ( he spinned every time he braked late), he received a very nice answer, but no one told him, that on a kart you brake with your left foot and you never release totally the accelerator (at least in lower formulas) while you brake, playing with both pedals to control the kart along the curves (accelerator actuating on the rear wheels, brakes on the four). It is the key to a decent lap time.

    Cheers.

There are a couple of cars where setup can save you a substantial amount of time but most cars it's 90% driver, 10% setup. I would say the FISI and Marussia and Indy car, probably the FR3.5 are cars where setup can really help. I would never race those cars online because I'm just way too slow in them. :)

There is no doubt that a realistic simulation of an F1 car is out of reach of 99.9 % of humans (even very dedicated simracers).

Yes I agree with you, it's 90 % driver and 10 % car and 100 % practice with the car and track (I told you I wasn't good at maths).

But if the car is more difficult to drive than it should, your improvement will be very slow.

I have spent many hours trying to setup F1 cars in RF1, but there you could access the HDV file and interpret data to evaluate the proper ratio of front and rear dynamic ride height (diffusor data), and most data was correctly logged to Motec.

I am sure you know that some simracers only race a single car all year long in order to be competitive, I confess that I enjoy very much jumping from one car to another (as different as possible, do time travel), enjoy the look of the cars and the new experiences (first time I was able to drive on an oval track, I was interested and watched Indy Races on Youtube), rather than searching to set the ultimate lap record.

I respect fully on line racers and their motivations, but I am sure that less than 5 % of RF2 users will ever race on line, one of the reasons being the extraordinary amount of time you must dedicate to train and then race, with schedules very difficult to meet for people with a family life and work.

    Bye.
