I have to comment on both these posts.

For post number one... I have seen DirectX 9.0C games that look as good if not better than some DirectX 11 games.

For post number two.. I have played games that utilise both DirectX 9 and Direct X 11 and in some cases Direct X 11 performance has dropped by half for little visual improvements.

As has been stated, it entirely depends on the experience of the graphics team. I would much rather play a well developed DirectX 9 based game than a poorly developed DirectX11 based game.

    OH NO!!!!!

    Not another DX-Thread!

Some people simply don´t learn! Or can´t read!
ANd/or haven´t an idea what they talking about. Or all three......

    Heaven help!

It was the greatest goal that ISI can take to leave this Program in DX9, because much people
are still on 32 bit systems, so that MOST people can run that program, which means
    more people are racing (online)!

Looks like yourself one of them...

Enough of this, this is my opinion on this non-sense + non-constructive subject.

There will be no DirectX 11 mode
    Source: ISI Interview e-magazine
    Source 2: Virtualr
    Source 3: Race Department
    Source 4: Simroom

And finally there will be no DirectX 10 mode YET !
Source: Simhq.com Interview: Gjon Camaj on rFactor 2

    Still depressed, unhappy, complaining ?
Well they are a lot of things you can do but i'll mention two of them.

    1) Go learn, and do your own game engine with all the stuff you want. I bet you will get overwhelmed before start and in the best case maybe you will make something like "current rFactor2 quality" in 3 ~ 5 years spending tons of resources in the process.
    2) Choose some other title in the market that suits your need. Honestly.

    But, please be kind ...
Express you opinion without making it a law to follow and write about the subject if you have the skills and knowledge.

Those who complain, think they are DirectX engineers because they have read a DirectX11 specification sheet from google.

I've started in the racing simulation in Commodore 64 (in 1989) and I can write a bible about programming.
I truly believe that ISI is following the best possible path and they will succeed like in the past and more.

    it's 2012 guys: http://store.steampowered.com/hwsurvey/
considering how perfomance hungry rf2 is even on DX9, you anyway need a recent GFX card which would support at least dx10. So again, dx9 is fine for now but it definitely needs to be polished and optimized. If ISI plans RF2 to exist 7 years as rf1, they will need improve the GFX and will probably have to move to dx11 someday... some other sims are on the way (which will as well include modding possibilities) and they look amazing... and they're also in beta or even alpha...

all your sources are from 2011 and state as well, as an example: "■rFactor 2 will go open-beta in 2011 ahead of the official release (possibly in 2011 as well)"
anything announced so far has been changed by ISI... again the increased competition in this kind of game will make things change, even for ISI.

You still don't get that this amazing look can be achieved in dx9?

CryEngine 3 has been ported to XBox 360 and Playstation 3, which basically use DirectX 9.0c class hardware.

It's not about what can be done with given version of DirectX but rather how it's done. And it's up to programmers to choose what they prefer. It makes very little impact on end user - except maybe for placebo effect ;)

At the moment rF2 suffers from some other performance issues, not related to DirectX version. Unless that is sorted out, there's really no point in moving towards adding more advanced features.
Unfortunately I see ISI more focused on optimizing their current engine design, rather than moving to something better. Whatever optimizations they'll put in there, it can only give improvements within some range.
I'm hoping they'll do something more radical than this.

You could at least set sunny weather in rF2, not much of a comparison otherwise :)

Think in it like the intention was to set "Overcast" in the old engine ;)

It's a feature comparison then, not graphics comparison ;)

Yes ! could be an inaccurate comparison like your post that Playstation 3 uses DirectX 9c ... instead of the Graphics Library (aka OpenGL)

Speaking of accuracy - I said "DirectX 9.0c class hardware".
What PS3 uses is derieved from OpenGL ES, but is at the same level of features DirectX 9.0c is because it runs at the same class of hardware. There was no point going into details, because the point was that CryEngine 3 can run on DirectX9 / OpenGL2 API. Doesn't necessarily require DX11 or OGL4

If you want to compare SM3 vs SM5, try the Unigine Heaven benchmark which you can download from Guru3D. I can't see any difference at all. Same goes for PCars...

I read all the posts and discussions on the version of directx and unfortunately :( coming to the conclusion that he will not be able to play because my machine is only directx 11 and it is not possible to downgrade to version 9.
