I'm not keeping much hopes for rallying being implemented since there is realroad, if ISI would want to keep the surface physics as realistic as they did with tarmac it would be intense amount of work.

But I really hope there will be hillclimb mod, as that can't be that hard to implement.

From my understanding gravel surface is confirmed, but comes later, even some off-roading eventually is what I understood, so why not rallying? There is even screenshot of rally stage in Dev screenshots as well as dirt track.

At your country they have such fun we don't have here, having such in sim would be something too good for sure :p

Great memories! I totally forgot about truck trials. In a time there was almost no autosport on our tv, I watched this a lot. A bit forced as there was nothing else to see and it was not really my cup of tea, but I could appreciate it after a while when I started to know the sport. Thanks for the reminder!

Although with hillclimbing I was expecting more this kind of hillclimb:

It's Tajima's record lap from last year, finishing below the 10 minute mark for the first time (with an overheated engine in the end).
Since this year they removed all the gravel.
Bad for pikes peak in general and the drivers, but good for us. Now we don't have to wait until gravel gets implemented, because it's all tarmac and we already have that :p

Truck trials are fun and crazy, but they would require lots of work spent by modders on the surface to model all the bumps and ditches, otherwise if it's just a very steep block of flat surface that only looks like dirt it won't be too interesting.

By hillclimbs I meant the same thing as Roadster, normal public twisty roads with mostly good surface, where "normal" racecars with low ground clearance drive up the hill.

Pikes Peak is my love, I hope one day to get there at least as a spectator, just too bad I will never get to see it in gravel form.

However there still are insane gravel hillclimbs like this one:

Would be cool in rf2 as well..

so not many infos about the hillclimb mod in rf2, i'm a true hillclimb fan and i'd love to see a mod that re create the atmosphere of the event (which is very different from rallye) , cars from the real champ such as osella PA27, ligier JS49 for instance (but there are a lot more) and also climbs from the real champ, in france for instance we have lots of wonderful climbs such as the Col Saint Pierre and the Mont Dore...
I guess there are a lot of people that are really interested in that event that is very under-represented in rf1, those people know the real rules of the hillclimb (3 only climbs )

I like fast hillclimb too, it is also bit similar to rally sprint, yet different. Well, at least rally sprint we have here, no navigator, tarmac, dirt, snow surface, but less about hill climbing. They run two runs.

Now I was thinking that some kind of ruleset creating would be useful, so that you could mod rules, that would help a lot when creating some odd race series.

Speaking about hillclimb support and tracks, we also need real hillclimb cars with proper physics. Unfortunately in rf1 there are no pure hillclimb vehicles that would really satisfy me so I mostly used historx or enduracers, which are not designed for hillclimbing much.

    This crazy 134 Judd anyone!?
Also we need that track! (its here in czech rep)

    RIP Georg Plasa :(

He must drive close to warp speed as you can actually see windshield start flexing in and passenger side mirror changing position around 1:45

But what makes car a proper hill climb car, how it needs different physics than say for example DTM car?

It doesn't need different physics, hope I didn't make it sound like that. We just don't have actual hillclimb cars. You can drive enduracers GT cars and even protos just fine up hill but they are not the actual cars that do hillclimbs.
The GT cars may actually be just as fast as those hillclimbing but have different livery. And most cars just aren't there at all, I mean there aren't many F430s or Spykers or Murcielagos in hillclimbs, more often they use cheaper base cars like Kadett or Escorts that are highly tuned, whereas GT circuit cars typically use very expensive base cars.
And then I miss prototype-like cars Osella PA 20 which are made pure for hillclimb. There is such mod for rf1 but somehow I don't like its physics and sounds.

Well maybe I just expect way too many cars lol. Must be that rfactor-users-collector-syndrome, we never have enough content lol.

EDIT: now I remember I once saw huge rally and hillclimb packs with many cars but they all had the same physics. That is acceptable for series like F1 but not here. For example some cars had twice the power than real, some old cars had as much grip as protos which is ridiculous, all the cars are very different and have many classes.

Btw jtbo I think Georg reached 260km/h on that vid when side mirror broke :)

Many seem to be ex. rally cars and yes, I hope we can get lot of them, if there is one official classic rally car ISI should make, it must be this one, I'm quite sure it would bring invested money back many times as nobody hates this car:

I haven't ever even seen youtube trolls commenting these videos, even them must like it so much :D

Here Roadsport class races on our circuits and I think vehicles used in that class would fit very nicely to hill climbing too:

For example this car has full aerowork, I have seen previously photos from underside of it too and it has aero underside also, creates some ground effect:

I´m pretty confident that we´ll get some nice rfactor 2 hillclimbing. rFactor 1 was allready quite good for hillclimbing. There are many great tracks and 3 bigger hillclimbing championships (italian, german and french one....by the way, hi Mickael :D).
Physics is a question of the championship and mod, from what I´ve heard there are e.g. big differences between our (german) and the CEMfactor (italian) Osella...and both are based on the same mod.

rFactor is still the best when it comes to virtual hillclimbing. (besides from Trento in nkp, also great) But it´ll take some time untill this will change to rF2 and I guess it´ll also depend on what mods will be available. Let´s hope for some crazy guy (or ISI?!) to build a great Osella FA30. I guess that would be some sort of kickstart to the rF2-hillclimbing community :p

I know it's not Hill Climb, but I'd like to see a little Lion Drome racing.

    Hi cupra_abf ;)

well like you said, there's a real hillclimbing community in rf1 , the point is to stick to reality, pikes peak is a great climb but hillclimb is not only this particular climb fortunately, in the european hillclimb champ' there are so many climbs that deserves to be created (some already exist ^^) to make a true champ that exists in the reality...

The problem is that most of people drive hillclimb either not knowing the rules or not with hillclimb cars such as osella pa 20, F3000 but also peugeot 206, renault clio , the car range is hudge ...

example of climb in France with a wonderful hillclimb car :
