Just heard this on the BBC. Sounds like a very nasty crash, the car left the track and hit a transporter lorry nearly going under it and her head took a big impact they say.

Hope she`ll be ok, thoughts are with her.

***Some may find the photo disturbing***

This shows the severity of the accident although they are saying now that thankfully, it was a slow speed collision.

If not I think we would definitely be looking at a fatality...

Yes looking at that, depending on speed, it looks as though she could have easily broken her neck or even worse looking at the part that hit her. Great news though that it may not be as bad a s first feared.

I'm amazed the tail lift on the lorry did'nt cut her head clean off, those things could act as a knife at high speed.

Yeah that's what i was alluding to when i said could of been worse than a break of the neck. Just didn't want to say decapitate. Just didn't seem right to do so.

Sad news and good news. She looks like she will recover but has lost an eye and what looks like a career now

    Marussia Website:

“We are grateful for the medical attention that Maria has been receiving and her family would like to thank the Neurological and Plastics surgical teams. However it is with great sadness that I must report that, due to the injuries she sustained, Maria has lost her right eye.

Yeh, good news and bad news indeed.

Obviously great news she`ll be ok in general but very sad to hear that she`s lost an eye and as you say, probably a career too.

Really feel for her but I suppose everybody can be thankful she was`t going that little bit faster...
