I would love to see this kind of stuff included. Although, to be honest, anything would be better than what we have now. Racing games just don't seem to pay much attention to damage or realistic wrecks... at least, none of the ones I've played. Probably the best damage model I've ever seen is in IL-2 Sturmovik: 1946. It's an intensely satisfying damage model.

And just as important, don't forget the cleanup! I've been racing with the Legends cars in rFactor 1, and debris from a wreck stays on the track. Nothing turns your serious race into a silly game like a bunch of tires bouncing around the track as you go back to green flag racing :(

I'm pretty sure I've done the equivalent of Mark Webber's crash (the flipping part--not the driving collision with the car ahead part) on Spa about a dozen times or so now...

    Its not a pointless thread...
The definition of a Simulation is to be mostly realistic. In the real world you can't drive with 60 mph in a wall without destroy the car totally (Glass flying around, the body is forming and parts flying around)
In this game i can drive a Megane with 100 mph in a wall without lose a wheel, but the Engine is destroyed. Maybe they increase the Damage... Or maybe they totally update it. Hmmm. We have to wait till Gold Release, or a Dev answer.

    First of all:
    I don´t want ANY crashes! ;)
    Second:
The damage model was discussed already in some threads
    Third (to bastins):
The damage model in IL2 Sturmovic is sooooo somewhat of unrealistic, you wouldn´t believe this!
If you need a 50 rounds of 20mm to shoot down a Me 323, it´s nothing but a joke!
But this forum is not the place for a discussion about that....

    greets
    Pete

I can't vouch for that particular case, but I can't agree at all the it's unrealistic or a joke. It's easily the most detailed and thrilling damage model I've experienced. I'd be impressed if anyone could show me something better.

Proper engine management, full mechanical failures, detailed body damage, etc., etc. I think all of it would fit, and be quite welcomed in a racing sim.
