I would be psyched for a rF2 version of the Targa-if anyone was actually bothering to, you know, run online races with said track in rF1.
Probably why a Nurburgring is seldom built in race sims, too. There are people who want it, but the vast majority seem to bypass it. It was the same with GPL, too... I loved it, but many would simply skip that race in our leagues.
Actually this raises an interesting issue - is there any way to modify how aggressively the AI will pursue an individual circuit? A track this twisty, long and dangerous, (not to mention how big an issue tyre decay would be) wouldn't be suited for the sort of constant on-the-limit driving that you see in F1 and other sprint series'. It'd be pretty important for long oval races and (especially) rally too.
In a way, yes. Certainly you don't pound around the Targa Florio or the Green Hell or find every inch of tarmac on the Isle of Mann TT the same way you do Silverstone unless you have a pathological hatred of your car and your organs.
To a lesser extent, aye, and it's also dictated by cars too, hence it's something I'd love to see rFactor2 take in to account.
You can force any HDV setting through upgrades on a track by track basis, so I don't see why you couldn't design how the a.i. to run a certain way at certain tracks.
of course! kuato did the conversion from GPL! Kuato, I hope you find a 3D artist to help build the track. It would be AWESOME to see Targa Florio on rF2! I'm literally still playing Targa Florio to this day, I just love it.
At Online Racing Australia we have been running an annual event at Nordschleiffe for a few years now, known as the 'Monster 500', using a different mod each year. It is a 500k race (24 laps) on the 'Tourist' version, with a patch to unlock the GP style pits there. We've always had 20 to 26 starters, and it is quite popular.
Great effort to get those numbers Quasi, but I dare say that is an exception rather than the rule. I've had similar experiences with sim racing regarding the longer more difficult circuits that you can't really pick up and play without hours of practice.
Would love a road sort of trac. Like to drive on real roads, longer tracks and nice scenery is awsome. More fantasy tracks also with high peaks and so on. Give us everything!
