The grinding tranny mod for RF1 does this beutifully. I wrote a small note to the author in the forum at rfactorcentral to encourage him to port it over to RF2...maybe if other people also ask it would encourage him to do so. If you have RF1, give it a try...it completely changes the game in a good way.
The problem with a grinding tranny mod, is that for offline it's great. For online, you are giving yourself a significant disadvantage since you may be the only one with the mod. I'd love to see this as a part of the final game and a dedicated server option. Right next to the check box for auto clutch I'd like to see a check box for real clutch.
I agree having it integrated to the game code would be best but for online racing there are a bunch of advantages that can be gained. If your concern is a level playing field rfactor is probably not the place to look. I enjoy the grinding tranny not because it makes me faster but because it is an awesomely emersive mod addition to the game and finally rendered the gated shifter and clutch pedal that came with my g27 relevant
And even better, it should be car/gearbox specific. Like having a dogboxed trackday weapon and normal everyday car, and you could upgrade the everyday car to have dogbox or even sequential 'box. And just because we are going to end up with street cars eventually.
Well...you can...I do it all the time Grinding tranny would be nice, also there is a mod u can do urself to stiffen g25 shift (if u have). Only problem,u cannot use sequential afterwards. http://chilicoke.com/mods/shifterresistance.htm
Im sure lots of guys use paddles in 60s races, u can hear it incar, superfast shifts, impossible with H-shifter. So...do u really care? I dont as long as I enjoy myself (im slow anyway!). Just my thoughts, nikos
i really hope they improve the clutch modeling. I don't use auto clutch but it doesn't really matter it would be cool if they address this
WELL YOU WONT BELIEVE WHAT HAPPENED TO ME TODAY. I usually apply clutch at my shifts on my G25 as it seems the right way. Last couple of weeks I do clutchless upshifts cause it makes really no difference and u save time. So,today, driving home from work, mind wandering, I did a cluthless upshift in my car! Heard a loud CRUNCH, luckilly gearbox survived, it was 4th to 5th. To sum it up, common ISI, please do a reallistic clutch, mixing simulation with reality here, the WRONG WAY
But you can do clutchless upshifts and downshifts in real car... you have to do it the right way though Of course I get your point and you're right in general.
