I saw in another post that Frank stopped the dev of vmliveview, is it true? what became the source code of vmliveview? is it free? under GPL? no project anymore? just isolated devs?. It looks like vmliveview is one of the good projects that if the main dev left, the source code is not officially shared to let others to develop it. As I read a lot of posts here, it looks that Frank is opened to modifications and enhancements of his code, this code should be under licence which authorize modifications&redistributions respecting the author (just thinking about GPL :)). Somebody is this subject already did this comment about GPL.

No clue about licensing. It's mainly based on isi sample plugin for plugin part.
For the sql loader, no clue.
If Frank gave us the sources, I think we are free to make a fork.

I have no clue why it makes the dedicated server hang.
Perhaps stream conflict or badly handled names...

    Very helpful answer indeed :)

Yes we have the source but it is quite unofficial: are we authorized to upload this code to software dev like github to make a fork? without Frank permission, it would be unrespectful, but uploading this code to github is a way to offer it officialy to the community and to vmliveview and forks to be alive. Too much rfactor projects which die as the main developer stop to develop it (i dont blame devs, any project is hard to maintain several years all alone), and not only for plugins but also for tracks&vehicles devs.

That's why I asked Frank to gave us the code some months ago.

I think he's ok that we fork it.

The main issue is that the plugin makes the dedicated server hangs as soon as there are too much players/ia.

And it doesn't handle special characters like "ë".

I thought to had some logs for debuging, but I didn't had time to do that.

Only thing I did is recompile it in december and Lucky said that this version doesn't hang...

I dont use vmliveview for rfactor2, only for rfactor1. For server hangs, maybe by reducing how often the scoring file ? maybe it is an issue on rfactor2 side? it is still a beta !

    Preview for VMHotlaps2.dll for rFactor2: http://vxracing.de/vmliveview2/monitor.php

Due to limitations of the virtual server, I can only run the long run tests with max. 40 AIs. As soon as the plugin has proven its stability in a 24h race like scenario, I am gonna release the plugin including its source code.

    ### BASED ON ###
    rFactor2 Build: 770
    rFactor2 Internal Plugin version: V6

    Added VMHotlaps.ini key & value:

    Code:
    [DataOutput]
    UseSubfolders=0

    ; ### DataOutput (... folder for scoring data) ###
    ; -- UseSubfolders: 0 | 1 (Default: 0)
    ; ### DataOutput (... folder for scoring data) ###

It seems like the mem-leak has vanished ... :)

    Hi gagipro,

    I can't really tell :(

When I started the conversion from rF1 to rF2 of the plugin, I basically used the same source code for the rF2 plugin. When I first detected the mem-leak, I let the rF2 dedicated server run just plain basic without any plugins and its default mods. The mem-leak also showed up in this constellation. Until now. With Build 770 and the corresponding Internals Plugin 6, it seems to be gone.

    Cheers
    Frank
