    Nice screens guys !
A big wish of mine for rf2 is 3d grass, i mean 2d with alpha channel. The tracks would look soooooo mutch better and alive.

Dont know why the isi guys dont implement it, maybe of performance issues

No you mean 3D. ISI just needs to step out of their safety box.

must be a lot of work to setup a track like spa67 with 3d grass xD also the grass would bloop through the low frotwings of formula cars ...

And make it to where only the fastest latest PC's out there are capable of running the sim? 3D grass seems like a great idea, but the more 3d poly's you add to a scene the more horsepower you have to have to render them. For racing purposes where you should be going fairly fast and concentrating on the track and what is ahead of you, 3d terrain is a waste of time and resources.

Don't want to derail the topic but my 4890 and stock 940 are quite old and at insane 50 meter lod0 grass I grab 60fps with the unlimited view distance in the background. And all the grass is animated and shaded individually. So a modern-ish machine can render insane grass if the engine is setup to do it right.

Youre promoting that game far to much around this forum. On whatever case youre comparing that outerra to rf2. If you like it, than stick whit it than. Outerra is done for what it was designed and nothing else sofar. We all have wishes in a sim but we have what we have sofar.
And the safety box youre talking about, it must be there, this makes more people to have a chance to play online so as offline.

I said I didn't want to thread jack. Someone said we couldn't have nice grass and I responded. It is just a raw possibility engine for now. What type of games it gets filled with has yet to be seen.

    Back on topic!

Outerra shows, what can be done. Right now, for me it is more like a proof of concept, but I still like to read all the news ZeosPantera writes about it on this forum. And he does that in polite way, so I think he does no real harm to rF community.

True but comunity does to much comparing lately.
And yes Outerra does look awesome but as i mentioned we cant have everything yet.
Grass can be done nicely thought if i remember it was whit suzuka track in rf1 allready? I guess this stuff can still be added later but for now the fps and everyhing would not be supported by most of ussers cause of computer performance.
It allways depends how the game is designed and what for.
@ZeosPantera nothing against you and didnt want to be rude ;)

Not sure about the performance levels of Outerra, but I also have no clue about the poly count of what you see either when you give that information. As an example, Race 07 cars probably are using around 50K poly's per model and there are a lot of poly's for track objects as well. If you get 25 cars on track that totals quite a number of poly's that have to be handled in real time. I would suggest a test with scenes that had about 1.5 million poly's with and without 3d grass and see what the frame rates are, then we can be close to comparing apples to apples or what ever you wish to compare. ;)
