so, before i take the plunge, what are your thoughts ? i found rf1's AI to constantly hit me from behind. yes, I know it's BETA, no assurance that 'final' AI will be better [CM taught me that lesson] so, what are your pros and cons? thx for responding
I think the AI is better than in rfactor 1 but it still drives weird, ramming into you from weird angles and such. They also seem to slow down a lot for tight turns (like turn 1 and 2 at sepang). Hopefully they will improve it.
They are definitely better off the line - faster than rF1 into T1 instead of forming a snail-pace queue of cars. I have still been rammed from behind though.
You guys have been putting the aggression slider below the yellow marker right? I've had no problems with the AI at all. They are very fun to drive against on Spa with the 60s F1
Hi. In my limited play time, I've found the AI to be MUCH better than RF1. They seem more aware of your presence on track and are more keen to overtake. When I was being lapped around Monaco, they recognised that I was off line and went past me with no problems. No more big queues of cars trying to overtake me. I don't know how they handle each other when lapping in traffic, but it's been a much more pleasant experience for me so far.
So far so good, already feel alot better than stock rF1 AI although I have not had a decent play with them yet, I plan on attacking the AI area of the Sim in great detail soon so will report back.
It does seem better I've had a couple of really good races where I had to race hard to get places. One gripe I had with rF1 and it still seems to happen here is the cars still seem to jump out of the way when you are coming from behind and attempting to get passed on the inside. I hope the AI is one area ISI will concentrate on. I know online racing is getting really big but sometimes I like to race with mods/tracks that don't get alot of online coverage, and its a great way to practice without upsetting your online opponents. What is the yellow line for on the AI agression slider ?
the yellow line is the recommended Aggression setting for a particular mod There appears to be some more values to tweak in the RCD file then in RF1... Gjon Camaj { Nationality = American DateofBirth = 26-7-1963 Starts = 230 Poles = 34 Wins = 24 DriversChampionships = 0 Aggression = 87.9 Reputation = 78.2 Courtesy = 100.0 Composure = 95.8 Speed = 78.1 QualifySpeed = 53.3 WetSpeed = 100.0 StartSkill = 100.0 Crash = 8.7 Recovery = 100.0 CompletedLaps = 83.6 MinRacingSkill = 87.7 DrivingLine = RTRAINER_FAST }
If I am taking my time out of the pits on any track, the AI loves to ram me from behind and continue to do so. We end up being locked together for 30 seconds until I can get my car pointing back in the right direction.
Tried racing the Ai for the first time today. Using the 60's single seaters. I was driving an F1, but the field was a mix of F1,2&3's. Starting from the back I found the Ai to be surprisingly aware of my track position etc. They drove well against each other and at a good pace on the opening lap. If I was just about to get my nose inside an Ai car it would move over a little to give me space, but they would still try to stay with me through the corner!!!! Pretty impressive and most incidents I had I could blame myself for not being aware enough of where they were!!!
Hehe, same for me Although my first reaction after an incident was: "oh, they did it again!" ... but the replay-of-truth taught me better
My only beef with the AI so far is that in the Meganes at Estoril with 95% AI I'm 10 seconds off the pace... on a clean relatively fast lap. I'm not sure what the problem is but I know that I am not 10 secs slower at Estoril than any human. I can see being a couple or 3 secs off the pace, but 10? Nah, something's up with the AI. I even checked to make sure we are all in the same cars. So I'm chalking it up to a Beta bug.
