When I registered it asked for first last & nickname the nickname it never used what was the point of that? @ Woodee: I found you an app for your iphone/ipad/ipod http://itunes.apple.com/gb/app/nosey-parker/id354693981?mt=8
Thanks... but I don't have any apple products. I normally park my car in a house or cow field in belgium quite frequently
http://isiforums.net/f/showthread.p...yer-name-in-game?p=26999&highlight=#post26999 mainly > like they said this is just a workaround till its implemented properly . if you ran ir youd be used to this anyway . personally it doesnt bother me either way nick or having to use my full name certainly not enough for me not to run the sim over it
Being able to change/edit your racing name is fairly essential. People change clans/leagues quite regularly and some clans/league require you to wear ID tags in your name. I have been racing under Blaktop online since 1999. One of the things that I dislike about iRacing is the lack of online nicknames (there's actually a few things I don't like but that's another story....lol). There are many people (myself included) who are rightfully, quite wary of posting their real name all over the internet for a variety of reasons....not because they "have something to hide". I'm sure ISI will work it out so we can. Every other racing sim I have used ather than iRacing allows online nicks.....including rFactor 1. Already I have had people I have raced with for years asking in game if it is me. I post on various sim racing forums as Blaktop, I would like to race under Blaktop with the ability to edit to allow the use of clan/league tags.
Only places I raced at with real names were cleaner racing. Maybe the idea to let nicks but not be able to change them is a good idea so at the least a guy can't get pissed off, come back in as someone different and wreck. Nothing stopping him except everyone will still know who it is.
I don't know.... Woodee I'm on the option side. It also should be clearly stated on the 'create account' page that this fields are this important (as Tim says, you may lose connection to your account when changed). If I knew that, I would have used my nickname there and not be bothered anymore...
I had to change it in the rFactor.name file. Changing Player Nick in plr did nothing for me and my issue was not to see my name in Player Name. Nick was all right from the start only never used...
Is that your "brake hard" face Dave ? It's very interesting and when I say interesting I mean freaky Looks like you got your beard caught in the handbrake too... Ouch ! ... actually your photo inspired me to add my avatar
my name got an "é" in it... it show "Ü" instead ingame but I never thought using my real name could get me more anonymous
no that does not work, as i tested it.. and changing your .rFactor file in the AppsData/Roaming folder does not work either.
hi' I think that I found the method! in c:\user\appdata\roaming\.rfactor open the rfactor.name with notepad: write as I show! nickname space-line (empty line) your name your family name your nick (again) save it and the turn the file in "read-only" and there you are! only your nickname will be shown online!
Most of them like to hide behind nicknames as its easier for them to open there mouth in the wrong way
permanently change real name? hallo everyone, so far I really like what I've seen (expect FFB rattling ) but what really REALLY scares me is that my real name appears online. I thought it would be only related to the payment... but now? Well, can I mail someone to permanently change my real name? I don't want to change .ini's all the time. I don't want google to list all that gaming stuff related to my name. Its fine to have a unique ID to ban idiots but using real names is no option here IMHO. Edit: It's not about hiding behind a nickname - it is called "identity management" - and some of us care about data mining on the net.
I tried Tigers way, and that did not work for me as well. and for me, more people know me by Slimjim, even here in my city where i live.. i am more hidden using my real name online.. for me it's nice to get online and people seem to talk more when they know you. and if i want to talk SH!+ to you, it doesn't matter what name i use, i'll tell you like it is...lol
