Yes, by default you can run: c:\Program Files\rFactor2\core\rfactor2 dedicated.exe ...without using the launcher.
http://isiforums.net/f/showthread.php/1719-Dedicated-Server-2nd-Machine-What-Would-I-Need We are getting a message: "No mod files or installed mods found. Unable to continue. Please download and install at least one mod." When launching dedicated server from rF 2 launcher, everything is ok so probably if directly run from the exe file, maybe there must be provided some additional parameters?
if starting the dedicated server outside of the launcher add you must add +path=.. to the command line interface.
Create a shortcut for the exe and under its properties, in the field where you have path to the file, in my case it is: "E:\Gry\rFactor2\Core\rFactor2 Dedicated.exe" at the end of it simply add: +path=.. so you will have: "E:\Gry\rFactor2\Core\rFactor2 Dedicated.exe" +path=.. By doing that, you just telling the aplication, that the main path for it should be "one level up" (or adding additional path for searching folders with content, which is "one level up").
Thanks, sorry for blowing you up! Just been trying to figure this out for the past hour! Funny thing is I still am getting the message "Simulation can only be started by "Launch rFactor" application. My shortcut Target line reads "C:\Program Files (x86)\rFactor2\Core\rFactor2.exe" +path=..
What about if we have a different port ? ie I would like to run 2 Dedicated servers with different settings, different ports which will allow me to enter either server.. ?
Worked it out.. Had to change the multiplayer.ini file on the server to the port number. Now I have both servers running with same IP but different ports.
Hi Radar it's true I had same problem if I keep same port all appear in match maker but I just log in one of it. Change port I can use... FireDaemon to start as a windows service.. using the old oneclick, profile parameters... like bewllow: +profile "1960sWC" +oneclick
Hi Alex, I used the same parameters as rFactor 1, I'm at work now but I did already have +profile, didn't have the +oneclick however. additional to this was the IP address and port number in the same line parameters. Anyway, after editing the multiplayer.ini file with the port number to match the parameter it worked fine. @ Jeremy. I never used the Launcher on the dedi server, I used the rFactor 2 Dedicated.exe file with the same parameters as mentioned above with the multiplayer.ini edit. Works a treat, didn't go through launcher (which is the way it should be I would hope).
Hm, it didn't worked for me. The Shortcut command line is correct. I got the message that there are no mods installed. After BETA installation I created a folder named 'Packages' in rFactor2 main folder. There are the three mod files included. However, are you sure i don't need to reactivate the game over the launcher?
all i did mate was run the mod manager exe inside the same folder as the dedicated server exe ...point to where your rfmods are using the browse tab... install them as normal and run the dedicated exe and it worked no probs...im actually running 3 seperate servers all pointing to the 1 packages location ...i havnt made any paths at all...hope this helps
As Jim has said.. All I did also.. I've noticed with the Dedi server, that when you exit, relaunch with another mod for instance, it defaults the mod back to 60's. Anyway this can be changed so that it stays on the mod you had previous ?
In windows XP almost you need maintain the quotes, if not the shortcut change rFactor2 Dedicated.exe to rFactor2.exe Dedicated.exe and give that error. Change the exe name to rFactor2Dedicated.exe and use: D:\rFactor2\Core\rFactor2Dedicated.exe +path=.. +profile "Formula2" +oneclick or keep the quotes: "D:\rFactor2\Core\rFactor2 Dedicated.exe" +path=.. +profile "Formula2" +oneclick and shortcut will work fine
