    Same question here....
although my server did appear briefly in the list of available servers, but I couldnt connect to it..

I would be very surprised if it uses the same ports as RF1.

after checking the multiplayer.ini file i saw the ports are 44297 and 54297. for matchmaker if im right you also have to open tcp 443.

but i do not really know if thats it.

maybe someone can give some light in the dark?

    greetings

However, if i tick the LAN option, I can join.....

Just need to see if anyone else can join it from an external IP address.
    the server name is RACE-DRIVER.NET

Actually, it didn't. I had the "local" button checked in the bottom left. When I turned this off I get the Server Failed to Connect error.

    Still looking for answers.

I've been having problems myself connecting , but it does seem strange that on some servers i get the failed to connect and when I turn LAN connection on it lets me in on some that I couldnt get on previously

You do not need to open port 443 incoming, you only need to allow outgoing traffic from your server to the ISI matchmaker on this port.

The easy way: forward 34297-34497, TCP/UDP and have your ports set to WAN Query Port="34297" and WAN Join Port="34397" in multiplayer.ini

If you're worried about having 200 ports open, use 34297 and 34397 - also need to open 34447 and some others for the actual connections. Use TCPView to see what's going on when people connect.

A simple search would get answers. That is what it is for. This server port thing has been asked about over a dozen times.

    Try these ports:

    54297
    54347
    443

I doubt there's any harm in forwarding these ports both for UPD and TCP. I can't recall what is used for each, but if you really want to know then try a search.

  15. 34xxx was used for rF1 while 54xxx and 44xxx are used for rF2!
All you need to do is open port 54297 TCP/UDP + port 44297 TCP/UDP (in the LAN server section) and it will work properly!

I've tried a bunch of different combinations of the three ports I noted above.

It seems that 443 is not needed. Only 54297 and 54347 are. I thought 443 was needed for the matchmaker. TCPView is only showing two ports.

Of course I'm connecting here to the server I've set up. I really won't know if this works for everyone else unless someone tries to connect.

If someone would be so gracious, could you try the "Ohio" server, please. :)

Saw you come in. I'm not sure about all this firewall stuff and allowing this and that and clicking the Local Connection button or going out to shovel the driveway. Two ports: 54347 and 54297, along with 443 for matchmaking. The 443 I suppose isn't absolutely needed. If I'm thinking through this correctly, the 443 is for outgoing (mentioned in the post above) and relates to the posting of race results on the matchmaker service. Maybe someone could clear this up, for though you could see race results on the web through the matchmaker with rF1, I don't think they've worked that out for rF2.

Could be wrong on this 443 deal.

Thanks Dave for connecting. It's appreciated. Any other mid-westerners who want to try a little informal, enjoyable league (small), can PM me. :)

    get confused, you are talking of 543 4 7, other talk of 543 9 7 ???

Why we don´t get official information from ISI ? FAQ, Sticky ... or something like that

All I know is that TCPView is showing 54347 and 54297. I'm assuming these are the ports (along with 443 for the matchmaker). These ports do work since someone has connected to my server (though only one person).

Not sure about the sticky. Maybe they don't know themselves. But if they officially put up the ports and they don't work for me when mine do, I'll have to buck the officials.
