Hi, I think the most important part in rFactor 2 compared to rFactor 1 is the weather system! Is it already available in beta or do we have to wait until full rF2?
Tim said something in the Holiday Screenshots thread that he cant give rain screenshots because its not currently implemented "Rain fx will be re-setup to work with newer tech. It's been in and out and in and out of a working graphical stage since the earlier screens, it hasn't been possible."
Well, it doesn't say day/night transitions or dynamic weather, just rain. Those were the things I was forward to the most.
Single Player Multi Player Developer mode Development Tools What Documentation we have for those tools to date (in the WIP state) Rain Wet/Dry track transition Dynamic track elements (Groove/Marbles) New Tire Model New physics New Collision HDR (with other Post FX to come) But actually there is no mention about day/night transition in open beta. I hope it will be implemented.
There are many features that will be in the first beta release, and as with the other features mentioned, are in various states of readiness (mirage and heat shimmer would be included in this). As a matter of general principal, no feature in the beta should be considered "finished" until we release the first "gold" version. And even then we intend to continue to add and refine features and content. Also, and this is really a no-brainer, expect features to change slightly from one beta build to the next, or even get turned off while other new things which may conflict are in development. Likewise, some features may go away completely if general feedback tells us they aren't needed, etc. It's all part of a typical beta process...
Nice!! So we can expect several "builds" in open beta process??!! Your focus on the physic part is essencial! Dont forget to add the most realism and features on that guys, for instance, the usage of used tyres would be very nice to see on RF2.
Yes... this has been stated a number of times... I'm expecting 'several' will be somewhat short of the mark, personally.
I second that. Some sort of tire management. With the possibility to limit the amount of sets per race weekend.
I have three questions about some weather features in open beta. Will those parts of the track hidden in the shadows dry out more slowly than those exposed to the sun? Will shadows from clouds be connected to track temperature? Any chance for aquaplaning? I read about this long time ago and I wonder if it is already working.
Pardon my pedantry, but...... that'd be whetting the appetite, not wetting. Whetting an appetite means to make it keener or sharper. It comes from a whetstone, used to sharpen knives. Nothing to do with "wet". Not criticising, just saying. This was a public information broadcast.
Why not show for us rainy pictures & video before the beta is available? The last rainy promo is enough old... :/
Exactly. If you buy the beta and don't like it you can get your money returned. There is absolutely no point in releasing any more screenies for video right now. Put all free time into getting this sucker released.
