In my opinion the important thing to really note is that you can create HDR profiles. If you don't like HDR - that's fine. When looking at the screens it's often the smaller details which make a big difference. For example when you look at some of the cars without HDR a surface looked flat, while HDR actually brings out the curve. It's also important to see where the light source is, because if something looks black, that's actually pretty accurate if the sun is on the opposite side of the object and pretty close to setting for the evening or has just come up. Also, there's no bloom, and often HDR and bloom go hand in hand. http://rfactor.net/web/2011/09/23/rfactor-2-devs-working-on-graphics-updates-hdr/ Full sizes that are up so far: http://rfactor.net/web/wp-content/uploads/2011/06/rFactor_2_HDR_20.jpg http://rfactor.net/web/wp-content/uploads/2011/06/rFactor_2_HDR_19.jpg http://rfactor.net/web/wp-content/uploads/2011/06/rFactor_2_HDR_17.jpg http://rfactor.net/web/wp-content/uploads/2011/09/rFactor_2_HDR_21.jpg http://rfactor.net/web/wp-content/uploads/2011/09/rFactor_2_HDR_22.jpg http://rfactor.net/web/wp-content/uploads/2011/09/rFactor_2_HDR_23.jpg http://rfactor.net/web/wp-content/uploads/2011/09/rFactor_2_HDR_24.jpg http://rfactor.net/web/rf2/screens/wipscreens/rfactor_2_hdrsingle_01/ http://rfactor.net/web/rf2/screens/wipscreens/rfactor_2_hdrsingle_02/ http://rfactor.net/web/wp-content/uploads/2011/06/rFactor_2_HDR_02.jpg http://rfactor.net/web/wp-content/uploads/2011/06/rFactor_2_HDR_03.jpg http://rfactor.net/web/wp-content/uploads/2011/06/rFactor_2_HDR_04.jpg http://rfactor.net/web/wp-content/uploads/2011/06/rFactor_2_HDR_01.jpg http://rfactor.net/web/wp-content/uploads/2011/06/rFactor_2_HDR_05.jpg http://rfactor.net/web/wp-content/uploads/2011/06/rFactor_2_HDR_06.jpg
Sudown clio pictures with hdr is nice. We keep seeing the same sky over and over, sunny no clouds. Cant wait to see all the possibilities with hdr. Now cockpit pix : i hope its a place holder top of screen on the right, seems too low resolution to be final. Mirror isnt final i guess as its too low resolution. Hope to see more stuff soon.
Yeah, sorry. Spent a couple of hours trying to get a nifty swipe script working do you could move from HDR to non-HDR. Have to do other stuff for a bit or I'm in a mess next week. I'll get more up tonight.
IMO HDR is a bit overdone, but as stated in description it may be configurable... which is, on the other side, not so good - because we will miss the reference. However what I can see again and again, it is lack of Fresnel effect. So... glossy materials looks simply plain. But fortunately there is a space for great KSzczech project Also note about hdr on clouds are bit funny, just because we have seen none of them yet. They are even exists? ;p
We avoided clouds due to that. But there are some which you'll see. I would look at the car bodies when you're saying it makes things look plain, from what I see it makes a white, lifeless hood of a car actually look curved... Also, it is very important to note how often the sun is low in some of these screens and then think what that would actually look like. I personally think it's very accurate. Anyway, I got done what I needed to before 5, so I'm back to these screens now.
Looks spectacular! Really brings out the shapes of the cars and adds a lot of 'atmosphere' Congrats to all, really good job! Cant wait! Eagerly awaiting more screenshots Tim
Looking forward to the full-size Corvette shot cos even the very small one looks fabulous! Nice work ISI, exciting stuff.
In the posted screens, HDR is slightly overdone, partly because we wanted to show something that looks NOT "just like rFactor 1". It can even look a lot more dramatic than this actually .
The sun being really low for every screenshot kind of gives a certain impression, but when you look at one with the sun high in the sky it does look very different, and shows that HDR isn't just good for shadows: http://rfactor.net/web/wp-content/uploads/2011/06/rFactor_2_HDR_21.jpg
The last 3 images posted dont load, FYI - the open wheeler shots EDIT: they do now, guess i was early Can we see the Corvette shot please? Its gone as of now
Yeah the HDR of that incar is jaw-dropping. Far beyond my expectations visually. Its absolutely gorgeous!
[/QUOTE] I know I will linger again... but mirror view shouldn't be darkened since cockpit is (check light direction!). Do not forget about it tweaking the engine.
