Just one precision : 32 bits can't allow more than 4GB memory, you need a 64 bits program to do this.
Here, the 64 bits just means that rF2 will use a big amount of RAM if you have :p

Thanks for this info, Tim - with my CPU, and 10GB of RAM, and Windows 7 64bit, Nvidia GTX460 does everything ;)

iRacing runs at about 200 fps at 1920x1080 (car mirrors disabled, using virtual mirror) using a GTX 570. I guess if rFactor can manage 120 fps with rain and 30 cars i will be a happy dude. And about memory, memory prices are historically low for DDR3 RAM now. I got 16 GB and i can sure notice the difference from a 4GB system. Disabling the OS swapfile makes wonders.

Yes, it's been previously confirmed rFactor 2 will only use DirectX 9.

This is encouraging. Looks like I too can get by comfortably with my existing XP rig. Reading this thread, I've just go that sense of expectation that we could be heading onto that final straight .....

It´s a shame they are holding on to DX9, its starting to show its age and DX10 is almost obsolete aswell and most users graphic cards allow for DX10 so i cant understand the reason for sticking to DX9, atlest they would have major overhaul using DX10 like XACT and better shading, and the drivers would likely allow to squeeze out more on the graphics card.

If i got the information right, the application is compiled for 32-bit, wich would mean that it can only allocate 4gb Ram aswell (rest goes to other precsesses), lets only hope they patch for quad core support in the future.

Althought I'd prefer a dx 11 support I'm not worried about dx 9 support (crysis 2 was on dx9 since the patch....)

    +1 at the second part of what you posted: 32 bit and just a 2 cores support are just for the beginning I hope;
I'm asking:it would be possible in a future to easily convert a 32 bit software to a 64 for the programmers? I think quad core support could be easily added, but not sure about 32/64 bit

Compiling for 64bit isn't hard. Truly making use of 64bit is another story. Most apps only real advantage of going 64bit is to address more memory. Adding suport for more then 2 cores is very complicating. I wouldn't expect to see that any time soon.

Well i'm not surprised... ISI target low spec, too bad.

Minimum should be ATI5750 or whatever good card at 140 € nowadays.
    Recommended ATI 5850 - 5870.

    ATI 3850 that's from 3-4 years ago...

This post is for ISI, i'm not interested in fanboys blindness opinion.

iR runs very good on much lower spec, Nkpro too, and both are looking very good.
So you can see, that spec. doesn't really matter.

Keep in mind that these specs are for stock content.

Just wait for some high quality mods.
I am sure modders are going to use the latest hardware to its full capacity.

I am thinking 200 VLN cars on Nordschleife or a 60 car grid on Targa Florio ;)

Much of rFactor's user base has lower end systems. I ran a league for several years and was amazed at how low end the average system was. I had to throw out mods and tracks sometimes because many of the guys couldn't run them. In a league you can't just say, well f-off guys, we are going to run this track anyways or you will end up with a very boring race with a very small field. I would rather see rFactor run on a wide variety of hardware. Not everyone races offline with AI where they can max out the system without any regard for others. I think you would be amazed at how big of a minority the offline users are compared to the league/online users. Just because the min spec is low in your opinion doesn't mean that rF2 isn't capable of looking good on higher end systems. Also, this isn't Grand Tourismo where they pull all their focus on eye candy.

Time for me to start shopping then, I'm above minimum specs but there's no way I wan't to run RF2 less than flat strap.
Anyone want to buy a kidney, been well preserved in alcohol during its younger days.:p
