How difficult is it to use this program with a 'homemade' steering set-up? Are there recommended pedals/shifters?
I think most people use Logitech products. I personally use Fanatec products. www.logitech.com www.fanatec.de It's probably a lot more hassle than it is worth to try to build your own electronics. You may want to experiment and build your own racing frame/cockpit, but that's as far as I would ever go with DIY.
