Connection issue

Hi, when I go online, I can drive in quali. normaly but when race starts I get "connection lost"
Anyone know some help?

 

It happens to me almost every time but I've never found the solution.

There can be a lot of Reasons.
Do you both maybe use WLAN?
And what are your Settings in Gameplay -> Network -> up- and downstream?
Try something like
upstream 2 Mbps
downstream 20 Mbps
Also deactivating 3rd Party Plugins can help sometimes.

Downstream 5Mbps - I'll try increasing it as per your suggestion.

Headtilt & Sharedmemorymap plugin currently used - I'll try disabling them and test.

It's just puzzling why I can be on the server for hours with no problems, but then on session change I get dumped from the server 95% of the time.

 

I have Fiber 500 Mb/s down / 50 Mb/s up, game without any 3rd party plugins

 

@Kedar Kenilej If i remember it right, also too high set up- and downstream Values (in Game) can cause Problems.
And is your PC connected with a Cable to the Router?

 

I recognized that if the race is 5 laps I get disconnect but if the race is for 15 mins I can race without disconnect. How is that possible?

 

Bad ping? Do you have stable low pings?

 

My ping is 40-55ms. Is that bad or good?

 

If it stays in that range without high spikes then it's good. It's a really weird issue. Try asking in the Discord, maybe devs can see something in the server logs.

Maybe not relevant but I just got asked by someone and the question sounded much like this post.

If you're in the practice servers, when the race is about to start, the session changes to race and immediately you get disconnected from the practice server. Then you have to connect to the racing server. They're different servers, you have to exit the practice server to enter the race server. If you don't you're disconnected from the practice server.

Please, ignore it if you already knew this.

 

In my case that was the solution. I noticed when the notices appear that the race is going to start and the drivers disconnected. I always waited for the session change and then I couldn't participate in the race because it was too late.

@Bernat You were right. When practice server finishes it starts like a 5 laps race (don´t know why), I normaly stand at grid and in few seconds it disconnects me from practice server and in few secs starts racing server I can join and do 5 mins qualification and then 15 mins race.

 

OK, I have the same misunderstanding. Does that mean I just wait and don't click Join again after I'm kicked out?

 

Yes, wait and the Register button will become Join Server. If it stalls in the Starting Servers state, go back one page and enter the event again. It will refresh the button.

This seems to be catching out a lot of drivers lately. I made the same mistake myself when I first stared using it.

To the Devs, maybe the chat box messages could be changed a little to make it more clear what drivers need to do?

Instead of message "Event Starting in 1 minute"
Please change that to "This practice server is closing in 1 minute, please exit and join Race server"

And instead of 'Connection Lost' message, please change that to "This Practice server is closing now, please register and join Race server"

 

I think it might be better to exit just prior to the practice session ending. That way you should already be at the race menu when it opens up.
