Hello everyone, I've been trying for weeks to create a dedicated server on Rfactor2 to have fun with my friends. However, despite having opened all the firewall ports (inbound) and router ports, both the normal ports and those recommended for hosting on the same machine (27013), and having changed the WebUi to set up the server and client on the same machine, the server does not appear in the Rfactor2 server list. Furthermore, although it appears in the list of websites and tools that identify online servers, when I try to join, Rfactor2 tells me "invalid server infos." If anyone can provide me with useful information, I would be truly grateful. Thank you and have a good day.
From multiplay.json what are your lines for “Simulation port”:54297, “HTTP Server Port”:64297, And what ports are open on your router? should be for the above multiplayer settings and set to forward to your internal IP address for the PC running the server. If you haven't done so make the server PC IP address fixed. 54297 : TCP/UDP 64297 : TCP 64298 : UDP 64299 : UDP
I have 54297 : TCP/UDP 64297 : TCP 64298 : UDP 64299 : UDP 53297 : TCP/UDP 63297 : TCP 63298 : UDP 63299 : UDP 27013 : TCP 27014: UDP 27015: UDP
I got that same error when I tried to connect to one of my servers but the port forwarding wasn't working. I showed up in the list of servers OK but couldn't connect to the port on the server. Can you telnet to the IP PORT? If I recall correctly you won't get a "proper reply" from the server but you shouldn't get a failure message. What does your server name appear as?
Starting having a similar issue, on a hosted VPS where the firewall is open for RF2, since last week just stopped showing up in the server list and getting a "Matcher Status: Not connected to Steam" message on it
This is from a posting in December 2023 by @Joel.Brown Don't ever, ever change the WebUI port number on the server as it states in the documentation at https://docs.studio-397.com/users-guide/setting-up-a-dedicated-server. Doing that stops the server from displaying its name on Steam MatchMaker and actually caused me to have +connect act randomly too. Well, it worked one day fine, and the next day it didn't at all. Once I changed WebUI Port back to the default of 5397 it worked perfectly.
Ok It Works but only for me. If i use 64279 port it shows but on my list and not for others. And It shows in your site list but not working
Did you forward the Ports that you use in your Router? I did have a similar Problem, when i didn't do it. And do you have "Enable Autodownloads":false, set to true, in the Multiplayer.JSON of the Server? That is necessary, that Clients can download the Server rfmod. And how big (MB) is the Content that must be downloaded? If it is more than 500 MB, you also have to raise the Value "HTTP Server Max File Size":500, in the Multiplayer.JSON of the Server. Where is the Server running, is it at your Home on the same PC where your rFactor 2 is installed or on a separate PC at your Home or is it a rented Server?
I activate now autodownload, my mod is a VMod beacouse everything is from steam. Server and client on my pc.
If you have the Server running, would you mind to tell us the Server Name, that we can try to join? What kind of Content do you use, only DLC or also Workshop Items?
If it is your first Server, i would recommend to use only 1 Track and 1 Car, to keep it simple. And check the File Sizes of the used rfcmp and rfmod, that none of them is bigger than what you have set in the Multiplayer.JSON at: "HTTP Server Max File Size":XXX, and put the rfcmp Files of the used Components and also the rfmod File into the Packages Folder of the Server, that it can be downloaded from the Clients, when they try to join the Server and don't have it installed already.
