I have made a handbrake out of an old WINGMAN Formula Force GP Wheel it was fairly easy to make and it works perfectly If there are someone who have made one sort or another diy sim project I would like to see yours project View attachment 4052 View attachment 4053 View attachment 4054 View attachment 4055 View attachment 4056
This actually reminded me of a ghetto hand brake I remember seeing on another forum a few years ago. Someone had a spare Driving Force wheel, so they mounted it to the side of their chair (wheel perpendicular to the floor), then taped a stick to the wheel. Pulling the stick turned the wheel and the game was set up to register this as a hand brake. (Same basic mechanical/electronic principle as your rig here... just more ghetto than what you've done!)
What a stunning piece of lateral thinking. Just love the full ball race embed into the ply support, then to top that of a wooden shaft!
Nice handbrake! Well...here we go: regular I`m using the paddles and very rare the h-shifter from my Logitech G27 set, but sometimes i was missing a sequentiell shifter. I was looking around to buy one but pricewise it was really to expensive, pricing is starting from 150 Euro, e.g. the DSD is around 300. I saw in annother forum some guys playing around with automatic lever selectors using them as sequentiell shifter. After some investigation i decided to try this, too. I bought an automatic lever selector (BMW 5 E39 series) from ebay, and a chrome shift knob. Totally cost was 37 euro incld. shipping. As i want try to use some not used controller ports from my DSD button box, i dont need to buy an extra controller. To connect everything in a proper way, i used an old vga switch for the button box and a used vga cable for the connection. Some pictures from the progress... I reversed the position detection switch (steptronic/automatic) to use this switch as neutral position. On the fly connection for testing...everything is working Here you can see the vga cable attached to the button box Picture with new shift knob attached Available functions: - upshift/downshift - neutral - reverse gear To use this shifter is really an improve of immersion
Hi, i built from an old G27 brake (with loadcell) a handbrake. Would be interesting how it could be recognized as axis with rF2? The handbrake is connected through usb (bodnar pedal adapter cable). When i map the hb as brake, the axis is well recognized and working... //Edit: pic added:
I just bought the Quick Release Adapter for my 3 G27 Wheels. Its really very good quality and very good bang for the buck. I cant say much about long term stability, but for the moment an absolut recommendation. He sells so far a couple of hundred Adapter and it seems his customers are still happy with the goods. https://www.etsy.com/de/shop/Moditek?ref=shop_sugg_market
