    Hi,

I created this thread so that anyone can put these VR settings if he wants.
It will surely be useful to others.

I propose at least to put the following information :

    1) The most precise parameters possible, whether in the game or outside.

    2) Your hardware, especially not forgetting overclocking, is very important.

    3) The race conditions (rain, cloudy, sunset, night,...) for which these parameters are valid for you.

    4) And finally, explain what performance you get with what type of combo.

    ------------------------------------
Below are my parameters in the attached file, where all this information appears.

    The performances I get :

With some exceptions, all the combos made up of official AAA tracks and official AAA cars work perfectly at a constant 90 FPS, jerks are rare, the image is extremely pleasant because the details and textures are at their maximum, combined with improved image quality via Nvidia Control Panel, combined with an extremely high level of sharpness per degree of FOV, to which sharpness is enhanced by the CAS technology available in the Open XR Toolkit, the colorimetry is right because Post Processes are enabled, and aliasing is very low and only exists due to the use of CAS.

On the other hand, I don't have access to the rain or the wet road, nor to the timescale, I always drive at 01:30 PM, and my vertical FOV is low (it's the least important anyway) and the horizontal FOV is very slightly reduced (the FOV is of a nicer shape than the original G2 FOV: oval). Note that HP's recommended supersampling is around 108%, the one I'm using should be around 110%.

Hope this is of some use to you, dear rFactor 2 fans.

With a slightly better system than yours, I don't reach these performances. I have to double check where we have different settings.
    Very useful anyway, thanks.

    Hi.

Indeed absolutely all the details count. Really.

The 992 lacks optimization and could cause very slight jerks, but nothing serious.

On the other hand, there are jerks with the 2018 stockcar (not X) because I identified that there is an optimization problem somewhere (don't know what) (the car is absolutely incredible otherwise).

For the very, very, very large majority of official content, the performance and image quality are incredible.

On the other hand, do not forget the MAIN OPTIMIZATIONS which are the FOV intelligently cropped via FFR technology (via open xr toolkit, FFR and use cull functionnality), use of open xr, 01:30 PM without timescale, no rain or wet road.

Bet everything on the image quality and not on the graphic effects, as good as they are (apart from PP in low essential for colorimetry).

Finally, overclocking is absolutely ESSENTIAL, but it must imperatively be stable.

    Good luck.

No blow to my ego I assure you (lol), but I thought it would interest many more people.

Especially the few people who spend a lot of time on the VR tab of the rFactor 2 Discord.

I hope my settings will be useful to as many people as possible, whether without modifications, or after a modification depending on my file. Or simply that people share their experience.

    Running a HP Reverb G1v2 with 12900k and RTX4090.

I have The OpenXR Toolkit installed - See HERE
I have the Opencomposite Launcher Installed - See HERE you need to scroll down, there are 2 options, System Wide Installation OR Per Game. I am using the system wide. Much easier to use and update.

Once you install both these run the Opencomposite Launcher and Switch to Opencomposite (you will need to switch back to SteamVR for games that do not support it) . If you are doing it per game, then you will need to install the DLL in the rf2 folder.

In game settings will vary depending on PC but for me everything is on FULL, 16x, Special Effects - Ultra, Shadows - Medium, Shadow Blur - Optimal, Soft and Rain - High, Reflections Medium, 20 visible cars and usually race with 31 AI.

When in game with VR, Press CTRL + F2 to bring up the OpenXR menu.

First thing to do is to Go To Menu Tab (press F3 to go RIGHT & F1 to go Left)
Press F2 to go down to the SHOW EXPERT SETTINGS - Choose YES

    Go To the 1st TAB

    Overlay off
Upscaling/Sharpness – FSR (I have tried the other 2 - NIS or CSS, the latter is better picture quality and works well form me in AMS2 and MSF BUT poor performance in rF2)
    Anamorphic – On
    Width – 80%
    Height – 80%
    Sharpness – 60
    Mip-map Bias – off
    Fixed foveated rendering – Custom
    Inner Resolution 1x
    Inner Ring Size 50%
    Middle Resolution ¼
    Outer Ring Size 80%
    Outer Resolution 1/16
    Preferred Resolution – Vertical
    Horizontal scale – 125%
    Vertical offset 0%
    Left Right Bias – none
    Turbo Mode – On
    Frame Throttle Off
    Record Stats - off

These settings work well for the majority of the time, maybe some slowdown at start on 'heavy' tracks. Rain works well. Night not so great but definitely playable. Night and rain is a no no.

I don't get much play time and haven't played around much with the above settings too much as prefer to find something that works and just race. I know I can use random day and any weather and have no issues with 31AI.
I would welcome peoples input with more knowledge and experience with tinkering as to what settings works best in rF2 with the OpenXR Toolkit.

My settings using Pico 4 with VD (Virtual Desktop).
I get 90 FPS in ideal conditions, in some tracks it might drop to 80+ at the start. In night and rain it drops below that at start and after the pack has spread a bit, it fluctuates between 70-90fps, depending on track.
Edit: I don't use OpenXR, OpenVR Toolkit or any other software. Only Process Lasso giving rFactor 2 Highest priority. Also no settings in NVidia control panel is changed (I believe VD does something in the background, but not sure).

    My system specs:
    - GPU: RTX 4090

If you mean my terrible spelling mistakes - I just type too fast not my native language :D

The trackside screens showed a weird version of my VR view - changing it to Trackside Only shows trackside camera view. If I remember correctly I changed that in game settings, from Graphics -> Visuals (not manually from a file).
Was this what you mean by that question?

Yes it is. I didn't realise there was a graphical setting for this! It has always annoyed me seeing the in car vr view on the billboard screens. I will have a look for it next time I'm playing.

    Thanks.

Took some time to set it to where i am, and testing it for stability and optimal visuals @ 90 Fps.
here are my settings, which I really enjoy and hopefully help others:

    System specs:
I7-13700KF on a Gigabyte Z790 watercooled Corsair ICU H100i Elite LCD
    Memory:Kingston Fury 32GB DDR5-7200

    HMD: HP Reverb G1
    Opencomposite OpenXR
    OpenXR toolkit

    In //Program Files (x86)/Steam/steamapps/common/rFactor2/Bin64/
    added the file >> opencomposite.ini
    content in this ini file:
;Mirror mode outputs a shared texture for use by OBS plugin
    invertUsingShaders=true
;Use OpenXR layers to handle GUI overlays and HUDs, if set to false will render internally directly onto swap chain before submitting

After upgrading to a 4090 i have raised resolution to 3840x37xx (dont know exactly the 37xx number but it is 3840 on the first one using OpenXR) and raised all setting to max and put MSAA to x4.
With 35 Ai i am at 60-70% GPU usage at Sebring :)

Well it is locked at 90fps in OpenXR and MSI AB and I'm not installing FCAT (or whatever it is). To me it's locked, if it drops under 90fps that's when I notice.

Just started to use rfactor I've been using iRacing for years but trying to get my head around openxr toolkit with rfactor.

It pretty easy setup with iRacing.
Iv downloaded that widget that seems pretty straightforward to use.

Do I also need to download open composite for openxr toolkit to work?
I've already changed my run time in steam VR but it's hard to tell if it's even working. I can't seem to bring up openxr toolkit graphic settings overlay to make all the cha
    nges.
