"An error occurred , Unable to install server mod, most likely cause is missing content ...." Server environment is a dedicated server in a datacentre. Ports are open, server is found in lobby, tracks and cars are from the workshop. It's a strange problem. rFactor 2 client downloads and installs the missing packages, cars, tracks, mod. The mod, as cars and the track can be used in single player after been downloaded, but no way to join the server -
It's a mystery, but deleting the mod on server and client and recreating the mod on the server, solved the problem. It continue to be a mystery because in reality nothing had been changed
This can be caused if the previous mod had the same name and version, but different content than another older mod.
that's what is so strange, it was a fresh server install, the first mod of this kind created, downloaded all correctly installed it on the client side, but refused to connect to the server. After deleting the mod server side and client side, creating the mod again under the same name, the client could connect
I am having the same issue. We are trying to setup a server with a friend and no matter what car/track combo we tried, getting the same error. Any advice? Regards
Check you have the .rfmod file in the server Packages folder (so it can be downloaded), and check you both have a Packages folder in your rF2 folder as well. After that, how's the mod set up? Did you untick the boxes on the left when packaging, so the actual content isn't included in the file? The .rfmod should be like 5k in size.
Most of the time that error is linked to content not subscribed for user. Installing track/car in server is not enough. For Workshop items, free or paid, you still need to subscribe to content, and install it before connecting to server. Only items not from workshop work "on the fly" by connecting to server and downloading it from server directly. This content appears as "local" in content manager ...
Yes we both have the content. Tried with BTCC, Porsche cup etc. We tried also with free base content and it's the same error no matter the combo
Question for the server pros, I've never seen a server setup under "Program Files" (as opposed to "Program Files x86) either, is that likely to cause any problems?
Shoot, I'm no server pro, but user access issues aside (which I guess won't be much different between x86 and the normal), the dedi shouldn't care where it is.
Yeah @Goanna, @Lazza was right, doesn't matter where it is, mine is in the root directory on it's own drive and works fine. So long as you have the path right. [Drive letter]:\rF Dedi\Packages works fine if that's where the packages are
Yeah, was just curious if it worked under PF when game normally auto installs under PF x86, all good…. My test server is currently in D:\Steam-rF2-none folder
