confirmed it doesn't work, sorry I couldn't help you more

  3. No need to worry - I was just wondering about it as I had seen the Aston painted on the glass before. But with all your help and support (last but not least to pay attention to my question) I read a lot of articles and forums thread and do know a lot more about the "painting stuff" now. :)

From my point of view a last chance is to guess the material name which has been used and to name the file that way (maybe also by extending the .veh file of the car) because as long as the mas files will be encrypted, I am not able to have a look for the dds file.

    Thanks, DIetmar

Ok, I checked and the WC material only covers the outside of the "visible" area, I'll ask if it can be changed, but it was probably done for a reason.

  6. Sorry - I have not seen the reply in time.

Because of an error in a rFactor 2 installation yesterday I did a trace - as soon as people enter a track (it was with MP mode) as couple of dds files are named / listed, which - mostly - begin with wc as its name.

So I assume in a way those filenames could be taken to override the material which is in the GMT (or somewhere else), but I had no time to check this.

    Maybe tomorrow.

    Regards, Dietmar

Yes, with JSON Files you can override a Material, but you can not override the Material Name.
If the unpaintable Area has no WC Material, you can not assign a WC Material to it with a JSON File.
The only Thing that you could do, if you know the Material Name of the unpaintable Area and it is no WC Material, is to assign another "base" Texture to it with a JSON File, but that would be used for all Cars then...
The only Chance that you have, is when the, as it seems, unpaintable Area has another WC Material, like WCEXTRA... or WCWINDSHIELDIN/OUT, WCWINDOWSIN/OUT assigned already.
Also check the veh Files, if they have WC Materials listed.
But since the DLC gmt are stored in encrypted MAS Files, you would have to try, if one of these Materials works, except @Alex Sawczuk , @Coutie or another S973 Member that could get that Info, can tell you which Material is used.

  9. p.s: at the end there are lines for window.dds, driver, helmet and so on - I am not sure about the "Misc" directory in front of (e.g. at 194.50s) and I think the number "04" is changing ... at least on different installations as I have two computers and they were different on both except choosing the same C8.R (#20 Fanatec)

    Have you had any success?

I'm putting together the template for the GTE cars to use in my league, where we'll have the driver's number on the front window. It worked perfectly as it should in all cars except the Corvette C8R. I manage to add the banner on top of the glass, but the number does not work.
Is there anyone we could tag here from Studio 397 to take a look at?

  11. No, I am sorry, I had no success. I tried it a second time and did a trace but it might be as Chris (@redapg) mentioned. Looking at my old post I am thinking of giving it another try with these names:

    194.50s util.cpp 1256: Unable to adjust texture for material: wcwindow_001, tex0=C8R_2020_04window.dds, tex1=Misc\C8R_2020_04window.dds, tex2=C8R_2020_04window.dds
    194.50s util.cpp 1256: Unable to adjust texture for material: wcdriver_001, tex0=C8R_2020_04driver.dds, tex1=Misc\C8R_2020_04driver.dds, tex2=C8R_2020_04driver.dds
    194.50s util.cpp 1256: Unable to adjust texture for material: wchelmet_001, tex0=C8R_2020_04helmet.dds, tex1=Misc\C8R_2020_04helmet.dds, tex2=C8R_2020_04helmet.dds
    194.51s util.cpp 1256: Unable to adjust texture for material: wcextra4_001, tex0=C8R_2020_04extra4.dds, tex1=Misc\C8R_2020_04extra4.dds, tex2=C8R_2020_04extra4.dds
    194.51s util.cpp 1256: Unable to adjust texture for material: wcextra5_001, tex0=C8R_2020_04extra5.dds, tex1=Misc\C8R_2020_04extra5.dds, tex2=C8R_2020_04extra5.dds
    194.51s vehgfx.cpp 776: Exited AdjustVehicleLiveryMaterials
    194.54s vehgfx.cpp 3240: Exiting VehGraphics::Init()
    194.54s slot.cpp 539: sound init

I think Chris already adressed some of the devs but they did not react.

If I paint the window template all blue, and the alpha layer all white, this is how it looks.

    Attached Files:

  13. Yes, that's how it is - you can paint the window frame, but anything else.

    Hello Dietmar,
for the outside Windows Texture, did you try it with the wcwindshieldout Syntax already?
    For Example: C8R_2020_04windshieldout.dds
But it also can be, that the outside Windows of that Corvette don't have a WC Material attached.
I mean to remember that @Coutie did mention it somewhere.
But it also can be, that it was another Car.

EDIT @Coutie mentioned it in THIS above Post. :)
I'm really getting too old for this. :D

    Yes, I tried many things:

    window
    wcwindow
    wcwindow_001
    windshieldin
    wcwindshieldin
    wcwindshieldin_001
    windshieldout
    wcwindshieldout
    wcwindshieldout_001
    windowsin
    wcwindowsin
    wcwindowsin_001
    windowsout
    wcwindowsout
    wcwindowsout_001
    wcextra1
    wcextra2
    wcextra3
    wcextra4
    wcextra5
    wcextra6
    wcextra7
    wcextra8
    wcextra9

The only one that works to change the color of frames is window. The others don't change anything on the car.

  16. I would agree to Jeferson - I tried several syntaxes and none worked and I think it is as Coutie said. I have not that much experience with those things (car designing / modding), but I noticed that the naming convention is not always constant ... sometimes you have to name it windowS and the template is named windowsout.psd ... worst case: Callaway C7 GT3 ... the bumper template is bumper.psd (something like that) and you need to name it extra2.dds to get it working (altextra2.dds e.g.)

I don't think it's going to be changed, but I'll look into it on Monday. If it's going to be changed, the car won't be updated any time soon, so in the meantime, you'll have to live with how it is.

  18. Thanks for this.

It would be nice to have the possibility as we have it on all other cars (not checked, but I assume) but it is not vital to me ;-)

Even if it takes a while to fix, it's important to get it done. One less bug in the simulator. Thanks

I don't think it's a bug, it was done on purpose.
