I know you just finished it, but I just came across this gallery. I did find this pic of the rear of the March Porsche. It might be something to look at for all the cars so far, is that these were not flat bottom cars as they had tunnels and under wings. https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.920571627978895&type=3
Excellent and beautiful car, Chief! Which car are you still going to make to make it 1.0? The Chip Ganassi Penske perhaps? *edit* I can make helmets and liveries for you, if you want.
@SharD would be nice to have all Suits, Helmets and Skins for the finished Cars, I have done Helmets and Suits for Dobson, Groff and Hall in this Update
Racing with these cars is.. intense.. to say the least. But in a good way, as these monsters were like that back then. This is a pretty good site for pictures of the cars and the drivers. The pictures are a little grainy, as they were taken in 1990, but they may help. http://www.comicozzie.com/gallery2/v/1990/CART/CART/
This site, https://www.tcdb.com/, also has pictures of cars, helmets and suits. Just have to type in the right name.
Every race can be found on youtube also! Its been such a blast watching these races and then hopping into the sim and racing against Rahal, Andretti, Emo, and Unser etc. Thank you Chief! I'm so happy to see people bringing these usually under represented cars into sim racing!
First of all, thx chief for this mod, it's really good. It's nice to see every kind of chassis being worked on. But there is a little detail that's a bit unclear. These cars had an H-Pattern? If so, is there any way to enable a realistic gearshift setting? The mod as it is includes a default timing for each gear, which does not represent neither a sequential or a manual gearbox. Cheers!
Yes, these were H-Pattern at the time. But I think they were dog legged at the time so that they could be shifted with out the use of the clutch. I posted this video previously. It gives a pretty good idea of what it was like. It looked like there was very little clutch applied on down shift as well. Now moving that to rF2 settings. I know the new Mini has lines for the mandating the use of the clutch. I haven't been able to get that to work. I've only been able to get down shift protection to work. But it is something to look into.
I like the update, but I think the cars now have way too much downforce. On Road America for example I was able to do around 1:39, or an average speed of 145mph. The 1990 pole time was an average speed of 131mph. I was on 10gal of fuel and hard tires. The cars produce too much grip.
