Every vehicle I get into the mirrors are just way off Is there some way to just make them work? Like just look behind the car. Very frustrating.
The mirrors are adjusted based not only on their movements but also the seat position. I usually have to move the Oreca 07 seat back a little to get the mirrors completely usable. But as far as I know, there is no simple adjustment.
I know the ctrl-alt-shift aswd shortcuts but it's frustrating to have to do it in every car and then an adjustment for one car throws another car off
It would be good if the mirrors could be positioned and saved with the Input Configurations. e.g. I have a pedal and steering setup for GT3 and V8 Supercars. They both have different seat/mirror positions. That said, I also have the buttons setup on my Stream Deck so it is a relatively easy but annoying change.
They are saved by the skin. So if you choose the RED V8 supercar, then come back later and have the BLUE V8, you will have to re-calibrate the mirrors.(unless you copy and paste the settings in the all vehicles.ini file...).
In case someone can help you. I usually race in FI, Kart, and body cars. I use different "PLR" for each type of car. FI - 2022.json Kart - Karting.json Rally Cross - Rally.json (...) I access rFactor with the correct player already configured using one json or another. You can do it in several ways I tell you one of them (basically they are all similar) Copy the player folder and rename it with the right name. Rename player.json with the same name as the new folder. Create a shortcut to rFactor on the desktop with the above name or similar. Edit the shortcut and include the parameter: +profile=<name.json>. This way each player is independent of the others. It takes a bit of work to do it but later it is appreciated.
How could they be saved by car? so if you change car type, e.g. V8 to GT3, your all_vehicles.ini file will change?
Example of the above mentioned about the shortcut: "D:\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\rFactor 2\Bin64\rFactor2.exe" +profile=2022
No it just adds to the list. If you go from the RED V8 to a GT3, and then change back again to the same RED V8, your mirrors will be as you left them. (I'm using generic terms for the cars, red/blue ) i.e. from McLaughlin V8 and then change to the Van Gisberg V8, that is a mirror change if you have never driven VG's car before. But if you keep coming back to McLaughlin then the mirrors are still as you left them, doesn't matter how many other changes to other cars you make. But any other driver's V8 car will need adjustment the FIRST time you drive it. After that, whenever you return to a previously driven car, the mirrors 'should' already be adjusted.
I reccomend everyone use in your player.json following: "Moving Rearview":0, Just your issues dissapear, move your seat or change car, it doesn't matter. Only if you use VR maybe don't work. And Head physics OFF everything, or you'll see a blurry image in the mirrors
one would imagine that since the sim already knows the seat position, mirror position etc this would be automatic as other sims.. instead i have a 16 button screen setup in SimDashboard for it If you use simdashboard you can grab it here, sadly the sharing page doesnt show secondand third screens for the seat adjustment and mirror adjustment values, but they are in there https://www.stryder-it.de/simdashboard/designs/view.php?id=2m25 edit: added image of the button setup for mirrors. not complicated at all..
What I would really like is some pattern on the back wall of the garage that you could use to calibrate the in-car mirrors right up front (in drive in VR). Generally, I drive somewhere on track and park and make adjustments. Afterwards, I go into all_vehicles.ini, find the car and write down the settings in a notebook. Then if I change to another car or anything where the settings change, I can go back in manually into all_vehicles.ini and put the numbers back in.
That would work IF all the garages had the same depth and width. Since there are many tracks, especially in the States, that don't have garages, perhaps having one track specifically to adjust mirrors might work. Call it MirroStone...
What I usually do, if I have to adjust the mirrors, is to position myself with the safety car, to the side, in front, etc. Although it is true that it can happen as in the circuits, that the mod does not have a safety car.
I like your thoughts. I tend to do what @Brutten does and set it in pit lane. Problem with Garages are a lot of the tracks are all made by different people, but it would be helpful.
When I have some time, I will make a small circuit equipped with the objects I think necessary for you to calibrate the mirrors comfortably.
Promise is a debt. Basic shaders and no technical boasts. You are free to modify, include, and perform any action to adapt it to your needs. I hope you find it useful. https://mega.nz/file/LIZniZyA#e9H6taI5gPPfJHJLzUChM42IOcY3vuGlgvxcfEo5K1s
I've played with this before and just ran a bunch of experiments again just now and it doesn't solve the issue of mirrors pointing way out to the sides so you can't see anything behind you or slightly behind and to the side I don't have VR or triples. I have trackir but I tried that enabled and disabled and it had no effect. First party cars I've never tried before have the same wonky mirrors
