How to make a server with new UI

    What do you mean 'start the single player'? Are you still talking about the new UI?

    This Thread is from the last Year and Things change.
    But as @Lazza has said already, yes, @Bernd was talking about the new UI.
    If you now want to run a Dedicated Server on the same Machine where the Game is installed, the following Starting Procedure works better.

    I have tried to upgrade the server to the release candidate using this command:

    steamcmd +login anonymous +force_install_dir ../rf2_Server +app_update 400300 -beta release-candidate validate +quit

    but it returns this error:

    Before it worked well, What am I doing wrong?

    You’re not doing anything wrong, the update itself is porked, the fix is to copy your core folder from your game install to the server install. Fix solution was by delapecs on discord.

    I just get the dedicated server 'Initializing' and it just goes away. Running the following in shortcut.
    "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\rFactor 2\Bin64\rFactor2 Dedicated.exe" +path="C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\rFactor 2" +profile="player"
    The +profile doesn't seem to matter, just tried it. Any logs for dedicated server to look at?

    @dosequis56 In the Field "Target" only use
    "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\rFactor 2\Bin64\rFactor2 Dedicated.exe"
    and in the Field "execute in"
    "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\rFactor 2"
    that should work.

    I installed it via the studio 397 instructions and steamcmd and that works. But running from within steam wasn't working for me. Will continue to try since I just want to understand it.

    I'm a bit confused now, because in the above Post you are talking about the rFactor 2 integrated Dedicated Server and so i answered to that.
    Now you talk about the Steam Command Dedicated Server.
    Which one do you use now and which Problems do you have ?

    I was trying to get the dedicated server installed in the rfactor folder created by the steam install and it would just put up the initializing message and nothing would happen.

    No I haven't tried that yet since the steamcmd install worked. I will try it soon.

    So no, this just says 'Initializing' and goes away. No log, no errors.

    Running the dedicated server I installed with steamcmd works. Similar shortcut to what you recommended except starts-in includes bin64 and the target includes +path=..
    So basically the same thing.

    Hmmm, here it works as it should with the Entries that i did post.
    So i can not help you.

    I just wish there was some logging. Anyway, I have it working using the other method so it doesn't really matter

    You could try it with the Addition [space]+trace=3 at the End of the Entry in the "Target" Field, to get a Trace File, that hopefully contains something.

    It has to be some plugin or something that is defined in my regular game's player.json or something.
