Has anyone with a 2080Ti kept it and upgraded their CPU from something like a 4th-gen i7 (4770k in my case) to a recent-gen equivalent?

It looks as if I’ll finally be able to upgrade my PC and am looking at 12th-gen i7 12700K (or KF) processors - but keeping the 2080Ti until the next-gen 4xxx (or whatever they decide to call it) cards are released.

Just wondering if I’ll see much benefit in rf2 now (particularly in VR with a Rift CV1) or if I might as well wait until the next GPU is released. I currently have to turn down a lot of detail etc. to run the Rift adequately.

…I’ll be rebuilding the current PC rather than buying a package so nothing will be ‘wasted’ if I start the upgrade now.

I went from a i5-3570K to an i5-12600K with a 2080 Super and definitely noticed an improvement. I also updated from 16 to 32 Gig and from W7 to W10 but I don't think that would make as big of a difference.

Also I'm using triple screens at 1440P, not VR.

Thanks - I’ll try the calculator too, Dave.

Yes, it will bet the perfect upgrade and you will enjoy a great uplit, especially for VR.

Apart from the bottleneck link posted above, you can always also see the GPU usage now while driving and see how far it is from 100% to see how much the CPU is limiting it.
