    Hello!

After spending way too much of my time in GT3's or GTE's in various games, I though I'd do something different and jump into the LMP2 (especially as the new sounds have made it a joy to drive).

However, I'm struggling to get up to speed.

At 100% AI around Daytona (which may or may not be the best track to practice on) I'm around 1.5s - 2.5s a lap slower than last place (yes last place), so yeah, very slow - so I'm obviously driving the car very wrong.

I set the gearing to Le Mans and reduced the Rear Wing down to position 2, and the AI just seems to get such a better turn in and corner exit than I do, pretty much everywhere. Do you trail break through the corner like you would with a GT3?

Also, in the car selection window, there is an option for Drive Planes - what exactly do they do?

    Any other tips?

    Thanks!!

I don't think you need anything extra tricks to drive lmp2.
It has more grip than gte so you might be under driving it, just need to get accustomed to lmp2 grip level and only thing to do is more laps. I would suggest doing solo practice laps instead of jumping into races.

Dive planes add more downforce at front (with more drag).
Maybe leman package might not be suitable for daytona, for its gearing and rear downforce.
so try standard package (whatever the other one is called)
    Use less wing ofcourse.

    OK thanks.

I hadn't really got into a Race, was just practicing with AI on track to see how slow I was :)
But I take your point about under driving it - I think the time spent with the lack of aero (GT3 compared to LMP2) is ingrained in me, so I have to unlearn that and be braver

    Thanks for the feedback

Did also some practice laps at Daytona with the Oreca (TEST verrs.) recently. With default setup the rear end scraped heavily over tarmac, especially in banked corners. I had to change a lot of stuff (springs, packers, rideheight etc) to keep it at least somewhat away from tarmac. I had also problems with brake balance, even with maximum shifting to front, which is 60:40, the car still tends to lock up rear axle.
However I managed a 1:36.2 so far, which put me on P6 of 8 cars (AI at 100%).

Ahh yes, the scraping of the floor.

I had that too, and at first I though I would raise ride height etc, and it really didn't seem to make any difference, so I assumed the sparks were a work in progress and that maybe there would be an update...but...if not, then it appears there has to be a lot of changes to the car to make it not scrape. I might change tracks to Silverstone and see what it is like there.

As for BB, yeah, I was having some issue with that also, but I couldn't work out if it was the car or my terrible driving :)

The 1:36.2 is a good time dude, I'm not near that yet - need some more laps :)

The AI is not same level at a given %
    for example
at 100% u might just win very easily on a GT car
but lets say a F1 will be not as easy even if ai is at 100%
so even if you are driving the max out of both classes, ai skill varies too for same % value.
So my point is you guys might not be as slow ....it is just ai doing bit better for same % value.

So you're telling me rF2 is inconsistent?!?!

    ;)

But, yes, I get your point - I might well drop the AI% a bit

You can try my setup, maybe it help you a bit (or others).
In the meantime I improved slightly to 1:36.0. Was on a way to a 1:35.5 but screwed up the chicane. First corner is crutial, you can gain and lose a lot of time here..

If I remember correctly, pace is quite high with 100% at daytona.
But after I have done some GTE it takes some laps to get used to lmp2.

I'm no expert, but I think the key is to go early on the gas exiting turns and have pace through the bus stop.

Here are a few tests I just did with my modified Paul Ricard setup.
It's 1:36s. Dont mind the AI it's set to 105%, way too fast to this track, but forgot to change it.
Setup in the end of video.

@r00b Driver I gave it another try. Got some 1:35s both in quali and race.
you can see setup in the end of this video.
Though while racing (hence the errors) I found out it worked best for me with TC 2 and BB 55.5.

(youtube is working on the HD version, may take half an hour)

    Nice one mate!

I switched to Silverstone to try that out, in between iRacing and AMS2 as well, although I've started to get the hang of it - proper beast of a car and the new sound is just excellent.
