Hay guys! Awesome work with the new sound system. It is definitely step in correct direction. Cars sound way better now! I'm impressed! The only issue is that cars have very sparce volume mix of different sounds in different cars. For some cars motor sound is weaker then road noise and rumble strip, in another it is more balanced. Content needs review of volume mix for the new sound system so different cars sound more consistent!
That, hopefully, is the direction they are going. They have released a TEST Oreca 07 in the TEST folder with balanced sounds.
The new sound is very good. I am really impressed. I am sure this is the beginning and that it should improve with time. But really good work.
it is really not bad, it would be necessary to remove the effect "aquarium" of the cockpit view the sound is too muffled it is necessary to release the craken! there is potential and I hope it will be exploited to 200%! IG irl
The Oreca mixing IS very good and a very immersive experience. Hopefully the rest of the cars can be balanced the same.
So do all Mods need to update their sounds? If so is there literature available for modders so they can do it asap? Atm the RC is pretty unusable for all cars not in "test car" folder when racing Ai as the Ai sound is overwhelming.
Last I saw they hadn't finalised the new sound system, so no docs yet. Not all mods will be updated soon (or ever?) so maybe more backup options would be good...
Some mods that I still really enjoy sound downright terrible now. I wonder would it be possible to have an option to select 'legacy sounds' or something.
I think there needs to be found a balance to make it backwards compatible. Right now the biggest problem is that opponent cars are too loud compared to everything else, so if they get those sounds reduced and the general onboard sounds cranked up a bit it might be ok allready without modders having to update all their content. I am not sure how the new sound engines works exactly and if it allows this, but the good old opponent sound slider might be good enough.
The "Legacy" settings are there for that purpose. Devin advises to do the following: On Windows, have the app specific sound at 100% In game "Master" volume at around 25/35% This is to avoid "sound clipping" Then, on Legacy: Effects at 50 Onboard 90 to 100 Tyres at 60
I would sure like a few more sliders to separate some sounds out of the overall mix. I know there are users who greatly exagerate the tire noises to judge if they are pushing the tire hard enough. I know users who are almost nauseous by the repeated on/off/on/off throttle use in corners. I appreciate the huge advance this sound package is...can't wait to try the 2018 Porsche.... just want a bit more customization.
I don't think you will get it. Devin said that the vast majority of the time spent developing the new sound engine was to make it compatible with legacy content and to find a way to give some level of customisation.
All I can say is WOW!!! Massive graphics and audio improvements. Hopefully it won't be a big FPS hit.
