It surely has been discussed before but I couldn't find anything on the subject.
Is it possible, I don't know why not, or beneficial to set a dedicated computer to host a local network race with the AI and another computer to join it? Maybe that could lower the CPU and GPU load and improve overall performance.

Yep, can't point you to a specific thread but a few people have used that approach. It's about CPU rather than GPU, plus you get a bit more control in a server environment than in single player. (Maybe less so these days, as you can run commands via chat in single player now)

I´m wondering if there is any poin on it, since most of the CPU load goes into drivers´s tyre modelling and physics. AI car processing would be the one that would benefit from this.

Sorry to butt in, how would one issue commands via chat in single player?

Is there a doc that describes what you can do?

    TIA

This looks like a fair list of server commands, I can't vouch for which ones work in single player. Note with the UI I had a bit of a mixed experience with entering commands, where it didn't seem to do anything and then when I closed and reopened the chat it decided to work.

It would be beneficial for me, since my pc cant handle more than 12-15 AI. But setting up a server, especial with dlc content seems complicated, and unfortunatelly even more on a linux pc. but maybe I give my extra "server" pc an unlicensed win10 to uncomplicate that part.
I dream of doing a full field le mans :) maybe this is the way, or maybe its just time to upgrade....

Yeah, I´m all for massive grids too, but don´t think a normal single player can handle that much cars.

Durge swears by driving on a home server. He has his setup so that he can choose any type of car he has loaded, as many times as he wants, without leaving the track.
Might be worth digging through his old posts for info.
