I´ve written a small tutorial for recording AIWs from replay files. If you think something is missing or wrong please let me know. https://drive.google.com/file/d/16cL0PXCWk8GLbMq7RRELJzjAeKDOMS-q/view?usp=sharing https://mega.nz/folder/CIIlGQ5C#jmMrO8sfvanSx4D6X8PaLg/file/aYxV1aJC
Thanks, I think it's a great oportunity to have good AIWs, as we can ask top drivers to do some laps and convert them to AI behavior.
More importantly, once the fast line is recorded for the AI, you can then use type 1 AI training to generate the shortest path, video record the AI driving that optimum line, and then apply this second video to DEVMODE.
Added a couple of useful tips regarding AI behavior at the end of the document. If you have more of these please tell me and I´ll add them.
In my experience, you can not create an AIW file purely by driving. In fact driving fast is quite unimportant. It's more about having a smooth line with no sudden adjustments in the corner. These make the AI behave worse. Quite often we manually smooth out the lines afterwards using the smooth by radius tools in the AI editor. We do have a full AI documentation under review to be added to the modding documentation site soon.
Thanks. Of course a raw replay AIW is not enough and it has to be retouched. Same as any other method first AIW design pass has to be retouched. That doesn't mean it's not a feasible method to get perfectly functional AIWs.
