Hey modders, Wastegate The skippy file only has a description but does not identify what measurement the figures are? Is it PSI? or is there a spring conversion Wastegate=(-1500,0.0,1500,1.0) // minimum relative boost pressure (to desired), minimum wastegate opening, max relative pressure, max opening
Thats what I thought Lazza. The 15000 (2.17psi) is throwing me off since all other boost entries are in hundred thousands. 150000 (21.7psi) According to that the wastegate would would be limiting pressure and I have seen a lot of turbo engines files with these entries at default.
Yes I see 1500. so -1500 and +1500 So relative pressure or (gauge pressure) means subtract atmosphere pressure then? Or is it a tolerance?
Should be relative to BoostTurboPressure, which I think is absolute (so you can subtract atmos from that, if you wish). I haven't touched turbos for many years so this is an educated guess
Thanks bud, Been really going to school on turbo the last three days. And usually wastegate is set to relative PSI with variation of opening size. Been through this forum a lot plus many engine files. I don't really see aparant knowledge on this. Perhaps the default setting may be fine? The only telemetry I have is PSI from motec and ctrl U in devmod Not sure what other data is available in that regard? I guess I will shift some focus back over to the pressure map business in the spread sheet. I know that's the area that will matter most
Wastegate=(-1500) minimum wastegate opening is relative to BoostTurboPressure (which is really RelativeBoostTurboPressure in pascals) So an example. If you have: Wastegate=(-50000,0,0,1) BoostTurboPressure: 100000 You will get the wastegate begin to open at 1.5bar absolute, and max open at 2bar absolute (probably won't ever hit 2 bar absolute unless the wastegate is too small (determined by the last number) I hope this is correct but this is how I remember it.
I see, in this case your boost turbo is set to 1 bar and the wastage is set to open if pressure is .5 bar over that. Ok, i will test that structure. Separate note: I believe 1 bar is atmosphere (no boost really) but your using these numbers for a simple explanation?
