Win10. Last used RF2 a week ago successfully (and many times previously). Today it is not working. Launched SteamVR successfully. I clicked on RF2 "PLAY" in Steam and checked the RF2 graphics configuration then clicked on RF2 "PLAY" in Steam (and "PLAY" in the submenu for the option "Play rFactor 2"). It has "running" next to rFactor 2 in Steam for about a second, then it goes away. No other changes on screen. Not shown as running under Task Manager. (Steam is running, as always, as adminstrator.)
Why did you load Steam VR first? You set to HMD in the graphics config, then just press play and it will boot Steam VR and rF2.
Because I load the motion compensation software (OVRMC), which is dependent on SteamVR, before I load RF2.
Have you tried the usual 'won't start' things? - Reinstall runtimes (all 4) - Rename UserData, verify rF2 files in steam, set graphics config via steam rF2 PLAY button, start game, exit wizard, set First Run to false in player.JSON, try again. Try creating a trace file per the sticky thread, though for such an early failure I doubt you'll get one.
All 4 runtimes? Steam, rF2, SteamVR, and the 4th one? Tried renaming UserData - no effect. Have already verified rF2 files in Steam. I always check the graphics config before starting. Start game? exist wizard? First Run is already set to false; is that the standard setting?
Runtimes are in Support\Runtimes. There are 4 files in there, you should at least run each one and click Repair. Some people uninstall each one and then install again, usually that's not required. When you rename UserData the game will (if it runs) run the new user wizard to allow you to choose content and configure your controller. Generally when doing it for troubleshooting you don't need any of that and need to reset the First Run value to false. I guess worry about that if and when you get there.
