What issue are you having with the semiauto mode gears?

Now, I know that I have revised the Benetton sounds a few more times than would be considered normal, and I was reasonable happy with the rev2 soundset which is currently on the workshop. However one thing always bugged me, and the most critical engine nerds among you may have noticed this, but the rev2 sounds were basically an adapted v6 engine. Great though it sounded, it just never sounded accurate to the tone of the real Benetton B186. The rev2 soundset is... for a v6 car, and so that will be where it ends up with some modifications.

So I have found a great clean source for an I4 engine which tonally, sounds identical to the B186. Using the good parts of the v2 set for a base I now have the rev3 soundset which, though still needing a few tweaks to the high revving audio files, sounds exactly like what I've been striving for. I also shows the nice new tyre scub sounds at the end of the vid.

Note that the car I use in dev mode still uses the old graphical model. The new shader version looks much better but doesn't show in dev mode.

And the real car for comparison (note that the onboard sounds in this video are lowpass filtered, but you get the idea) :

Now I will look at blending those nice Ferrari F186 sounds with the now redundant rev2 soundset. That will form the base for all the v6 engine cars.

After trying the Benetton frankly it's a great job! the physics are very realistic and require a lot of attention which gives a lot of pleasure to pilot. The sounds and graphics are superb!
    well done

ne of my favorite track! I love to find the atmosphere of the 80s with the old-fashioned circuits ... I really enjoyed myself in Jerez and Jacarepagua, Monaco is also very good but maybe the asphalt is a little too dark? I also tested this evening the update of the Benetton, frankly it's superb! I just have a small suggestion or question? it seems to me that there is a little too much grip especially in the qualifying version where it should slip or oversteer a little more. But that's just my feeling, anyway it's a great job. Thank you for all this work, I who are a Formula 1 packet enthusiast ! :)

Thank you it's great to here people are enjoying it :) It's possible that the grip levels will be refined but at the moment I think they are quite good.

The cars weight distribution is very rear bias, and the rear suspension geometry that toes in slightly when compressed. The Q setup by default, is geared for high speed - if you set the ratios shorter like for Monaco or Adelaide, it gets real squirrelly - especially on a green track. Some of the city tracks they raced at were not grippy at all when compared to modern circuits - at Detroit, the top surface actually began to break up. Even the new tracks were often quite bumpy.

The other thing is that there is no anti-lag simulation implemented (yet - I'm in the early stages of seeing whether this can be done properly). Anti-lag was only used during qualifying due to the excess fuel consumption. The reduction in lag would make the car more prone to oversteer.

All that being said, the tyres and the car setups in general put down the power incredibly well in qualifying.

I dont know how to put it in the right way - English is not my first language: I tried your tracks - the new ones v2..(.Jacarepagua) and the older versions 0.9 or 1.0 (silverstone 88) - and have some problems with cars (F1 93 RGP with talent files from the workshop): few AI cars from the pack crawling along your tracks very slowly - I mean really slow, loosing maybe 40 secs per lap - thought it might be the cars mod, but I tried the same cars at the same "original" tracks by Carrera 0.941 and there the cars don`t slow down or have those kind of problems (Silvesrtone for instance) and also tried them at 397 Monza and all is fine. Maybe a setting in your tracks or maybe a conflict - I don`t know and wanted you just let know. Maybe someone can reproduce those problems. Thanks for your work.

What track pack are you talking and what mod version?

There is the original "f1 1988" from carrera4,
my F1 80's championship edition (both are tracks for 1986 and 1988 cars normally working good with related ai )
and my last "F1 1986 Historical edition tracks" that is a wip and is made for historical 1986 f1 when done so, could have some bugs of course. ;)

So you use a mod made a long time ago by carrera4.
The update of this masterpiece (remember that carrera4 made this alone for rf1...) is my championship edition mod or the new track collection "f1 1986 historical edition tracks"
Both mods have a better aiw, ameras, pbr and so on ;)
