Awesome, long travel. Incredible city to visit. Mountains Ocean and race in view at the same time.. is that you here? lol
Finally figured out the expensive terrain plugin. outside is only 20000 verts with a 8k image then more detail around the track sweet!
Are you just doing all of Canada for the background scenery? Looks like I can drive off the track and head home to Ontario!
No doubt lol that was the first capture test. Trimming it some for sure and you would probably make that drive down through the states to avoid Sask & Man! It is actually smaller than the Mores terrain and is very small impact in terms of polys. I really only need the mountains to the north.
i did participate to an historical sim-racing championahip on CART Factor (season 1998) mod on RF1 in 2015 at HSO we had all the tracks for RF1.
but links are dead : https://historicsimracing.123.st/f70-1998-cart i will check if i have something back on HDD remind me
Thanks Matt / Corti the references are great. I think I have all the tools now. I am in for the long game now. I have the ability to mostly create from scratch apart from some textures and objects. I am almost done modeling BC place from scratch and figured out some other opportunities. Have shadows down and wet reflections was kind of the last big one to sort. I will then look at the PBR aspect, I just wanted to be proficient at legacy before evolving.
I dare anyone to go in here with Tracy behind you... you may not come out the other side! lol watching the 95 race and they dont even have fencing inside. just walls and pillars on the right side.
Ye, HSO kinda died with the split (of course it was a split, it always is in racing). And while the forum is up, the site itself got taken down sadly.
LOL! No, but I am close, like 4 people away. I was wearing a yellow Nascar (Terry Labonte corn flakes) shirt. Little bitty guy. It was a perfect spot for hearing the exhaust not after the 2nd 90 degree corner. I still have tickets, memorabilia, etc. Also have pictures with drivers. Andre Ribeiro, Greg Moore.
Can't wait to test drive the original layout! An extended, combined layout actually looks pretty fun and twisty!
Oh yeah, the 97 & 96 (better quality) are on you-tube. Hilarious they show the passing zones on a map in GREEN .... and RED because they are the trouble zones too LOL. The front straight has a small rise then dips down under the overpass then hard braking while turning. The cars just bouncing around on the back straight with two super bumpy crosswalks in a row. The pit straight looks like a roller coaster. Check it out, I think a modern F1 car would fly off into the bay.
Should be driving fun with all the rain we've been having...hope there's lots of spare parts in the hauler ;-)
