hi all, i'm trying to make the RDT map with 3ds Max but i encounter a problem with the size of the map.by following step by step the instructions of 397, i get a map on 3dsmax that looks uv deformed too high and too wide as you can see in the 3dsmax UV editor. all this affects SUBSTANCE DESIGNER and if on the Material editor I keep the scale u = 1 and v = 1 as you can see from the photo the map is out of scale, could someone give me some suggestions on how to solve? thanks a lot

even trying to vary the scale values I can't center the map

You have to de-select normalize map.

Scale the uvw or use a texture that is 2x as wide as high.

Doesn't it work when you, in the Rollout->Projection, set Planar Map, Z, and Reset Mapping Gizmo?

ok guys, I can't in any way, I had already tried with a 8192 x 4096 map but same thing, it's as if the mesh mapping is always on the texture edge, if someone wants to try I give you the link to download the road mesh I'm working on, it's from surfers paradise, it's only the 3dsmax project for the road jersey only with the red color for the powder then if I can make it work they will make the total one with the curbs and the outside, in the meantime I'll keep trying, thanks

Maybe i misunderstand something, but the below png is what i get when i map it to 1024x1024.
So it would be the same when i would do it for 10000x10000.
The Colors are not the ones that you have to use when you follow the S397 Instructions but the Mapping is not distorted.
I only did rotate it a little bit, to get it as big as possible (not optimized).
And i did it with the Method that i did describe above.
If it would help you, i could record a short Video.

ok guys i'm proceeding a little at a time, now i think with some clarifications (thanks REDAPG) the map should be ok now kindly if someone could tell me once i got the 4 maps as in the screen photo of the substance designer, how to go about activate the output of the generator to obtain, for example, the two essential maps as in the photo, that is the color of the vertex and the alpha? sorry if I said some nonsense !!!

    Create a new substance graph.
Drag and drop the maps into the graph.
Add the road details generator node to the graph. Right-click on the graph and look for it. (assuming you've it available).
Connect the maps to the node.
Right-click the road details node and click create output nodes.
Export rdt map. (You can export as tga file and then use maps converter to convert to dds)

we are almost there maybe I understand, one last effort: I downloaded the small (and precious) collection of nodes for the design of substance for rfactor 2 as in the photo. the rdt node is not present, looking at the photos can you tell me if the procedure is right and how to show the new nodes at substane design? thank you very much for your patience.

This is the graph templates, use the empty one and once the graph is created add the nodes and connect

YES, YES, it works great, ok I will now do all my tests, especially for the size of the map that I still can't get a mapping in 1.1 scale, thanks to all for your advice you have been precious as always

I finally understood where I was wrong, I have to thank everyone in particular "Joan Prim Armengol" who enlightened me with a few words in a private conversation, now I just have to carry out retouching tests on the color parameters of the vertices to obtain a balanced map in the effects
