I got 9800 .rcd files in the ASTON MARTIN setting folder just deleted all of them and now the game loads instantly This solution is to help anyone who has the problem of starting the factor
I edited the title and stickied the post, because it is a common problem people seem to have. Search rFactor 2\UserData\player\Settings for rcd files if your boot time is slow.
An easy and quick way to delete rcd files thanks to @Lazza https://forum.studio-397.com/index.php?threads/several-thousands-of-rcd-files.64131/#post-1000677
Presumably by the fact it's there 9000 times. I haven't had this myself so I don't know the naming convention.
a fellow of mine had 22,000 times the same file, it is known because when you start rfactor it takes 5 or 6 minutes to load, when you see the rcd file of each vehicle, you will see that there is one repeated infinity of times, in my case more than 9000 times, with the same information ,, team name and pilot name ,, for some reason the rfactor starts creating it again and again, until it stops and the file is duplicated 9000 or more times
In rFactor 2\UserData\player\Settings i just have a whole heap of tracks (no vehicles) and inside the track i have SVM files !
A quick and easy way to check is open the Settings folder and do a search for .rcd Or do Jedis have a universal search engine brain implant?
Userdata/player/seting/folder Aston Martin or porsche or Mclaren 650,720 or Calaway or all GT3 Sorry i am wordking ,i dont ingles and now smartphone
Curious, I just saw this hili, I look at my Aston M folder, which I have not used for more than a year and I see that in December 2020 (all are from day 4 and 5), 2596 .rcd files were created
Nothing really, you lose some filtering information that speeds up slows down certain cars. They all work without that info. And I beleive .rcd files that are part of the original install will get rebuilt.(99% sure....well.....) What these massive numbers of rcd files are from attempting to join a server and getting 100's of multiples flooded into your folders. @juanchioooo I found only tracks in that folder, the cars(that I can find) are all in the installed/vehicle/your car here. There used to be a small app that would search all the rF2 folders and delete the rcd files with just a couple of clicks, but I can't seem to find it.
the rcd files are created when creating a skins of a certain vehicle, they are always in: userdata / player / seting / BMW_M4_Class1_2021 for example It has not happened to me for a long time, but there may have been a new bug by another user
I don't know what those files do, but in one minute it created 200 of those files, but it is something related to a race that I participated in on Saturday and the Friday before I also had to enter the server to train. I just deleted those files and it took 17 seconds for the game to start. What I do not understand is that this delay to start did not happen to me 3 or 4 weeks ago, and these files have been on the computer since December 2020.
When you download a skins of a vehicle when you enter a server, the rcd file is also downloaded, which says what team name and car number and car name it is! or when you create a custom skins yourself with its corresponding folder disable the download of custom skins and delete the folder of those cars created or the rcd files that are inside
Thank you, I found 3828 within my folders. 2 batches, one from a league event on 18/04/21 and one batch from 2 weeks ago. I remember the one from 2 weeks ago, a driver had entered the room with a 'Unknown' car. He said he had made a custom skin but we could not see it.
