with albedo if i change the bitmap (pic) with a externe dds and all work but then what is the role of the S397 library (see list on picture) to modeling a car
I think that it maybe works with 3DSMax 2021 or 2017, but i haven't tried it out. 3DSMax 2012 is not supported anymore. But you can use working DDS Files, where is the Problem?
The material library.... it's templates to get you started. They don't include maps (not that I know of) just all the texture slots filled with the correct shaders to use. Add your own textures in the correct slots.
I guess that the Workflow from S397 is, to use a simple T1 Material in 3DSMax and then they use the Material Editor to build a JSON File with the proper Material.
@elec86 BTW Just a Suggestion, but it avoids to talk about Things that are explained in their Documentation already, like we did in the last few Posts. Read Documentations to the End This is written at the End of the Site about the Material Library that you use: Default Textures These materials are setup with default textures that are included in Commonmaps. You can download them here should you wish to put them in a search path that max uses. Note, that 3ds Max can't read the DDS files in BC5 and BC7 encoding. You will need to link up to the TGA equivelant.
Thanks, Coutie. This is just when I'm adding the S397 materials library. I don't even have a model loaded. EDIT: Nevermind...I forgot that 3DS Max needs that setting first when it takes the materials in. It's been a while since I've done this. All good. Once again, you have saved the day.
