I am running the latest version and still experience frustration. For example when trying to vote to retart the race in MP mode it just ignors even tho I am the only human racing. Often moving from one sessiopn to the next the games hangs, evenutually moving to the next session When trying to exit the game I often get this
I've seen that error, a few times, mainly when loading for the first time after an update. I click wait and it usually resumes within a few seconds. I think Windows gets impatient waiting for rF2 to complete whatever task it was involved with without checking back in with Windows. (we are probably tallking micro-seconds to us but an eternity to programs)
[spleen venting mode]This is realy starting to hack me off, everytime either going back or exit the game I still get the Rfactor not responding. Jesus how could they have done this, spoil what was a great sim into somit that just soo buggy, grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr Give me ugly and clunky but reliable than this sh1t
Look at it this way, they have made it modifiable, surely much more elaborate UI made by enthusiasts will see the light. Better-UI it's a start
But if the underlying problem is still there then all you have done is dress it up in a different frock
You never even answered my question above. If the problem is something on your end, how do you expect to fix it without doing anything?
I've never had the new UI pausing so much it goes 'unresponsive' (from windows), and that includes a completely fresh install only a month or so ago. I also think most people using it don't get this, or we'd hear a lot more about it. If you haven't already I'd say try moving your entire UserData folder out, Verify rF2 files in steam, and see how it goes on completely fresh files. If it still plays up it's either something on your system not working right or rF2 being bugged with your hardware/software. If it seems better, either your current files have some errors causing problems or maybe some specific settings you're using are activating a bug - so identifying that would be helpful in fixing it. Your experience with the UI there isn't normal.
Move it out. Don't delete it, in case you want any files from it later. Verify rF2 files in steam. This will recreate the Userdata folder and the controller profiles. Then run rF2.
I changed "UI autonomous render thread" to false. Started rf2, tried to use search in a car list menu and game blocked completely, had to kill the process. Reverted "UI autonomous render thread" to true, fired rf2 again, works ok. Not saying it's related but it's worth to check.
Update, well its getting worse. Its mainly when I exit the race. I would say it takes a good 30secs before the hour glass dissapears before I can access the front end screen
