I know you are not supposed to but for fun I turned off flag rules and drove a whole lap in the opposite direction. I was laughing like mad trying to avoid head on collisions with oncoming AI cars. I had great enjoyment. I drove the Caterham 7 car, very easy to drive. Very nice set of updates you have plans for us. Thank you . Do you use macros in Blender, this might help quicken up repetitive tasks with a click of a keyboard hotkey.
https://www.patreon.com/abulzz/posts he has announced that he will do the rF2 conversion, so look at amazing AC version is, I can only be hyped for rF2 version, it looks new gen, not like the old GPL...
Yeah!!! I heard him mention that on the patron Discord! And you guys are in for a real treat!! This is one beautiful piece of work! Abulzz has really done some nice work on this massive undertaking! The new CSP in AC is amazing with the Targa Florio 73 and I'm sure will look great with the updates Studio-397 have been doing! And somehow Abulzz managed to get some nice smooth FPS on this big track. I have been a patron for close to a year now and he always has an update every month! I just can't say enough good things about this build!!
S.Victor has made some massive improvements on this track; its still a big job to update the assets, if that´s even planned, but other than that whaat´s the diference between this GPL track and the AC alpha version?
Abulzz's version is a different year, 1973, and scratch built. Also, I heard one of the patrons lives near the course and has offered help. This is a track build to keep your eye on!
Hi you like me who loved this fantastic track come and join us: https://forum.studio-397.com/index.php?threads/targa-florio-challenge.69056/#post-1061747
The GPL track was made from scratch, even using many short movies and pictures recorded by a guy who lived in Sicily.
This is the link to the original version: http://srmz.net/tracks/targa/index.html I don´t know if it has been updated, but I don´t think so.
Last update was january 16: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2359535813&searchtext=targa If this is the 1970s layout and the GPL version we have here is the '67 layout, both are the future.
Modding is hard work, and really really really hard work for track at this size. Whether old or new, all those modders, deserve respect and thanks. Also GPL ver. Targa Florio is more than just an old track mod. It is a Legend, an Art, a real Milestone in sim-racing modding. It was something that many would not believe possible, at the time. It was created on a very old Sim that the original engine code didn't even support tracks that this long, and extremely difficult to construct 3D model due to very complex modding tools (which the modders had to reverse-engineer and make their owns), and at the time no one else has done similar on other sims. However the talented GPL modders did it, with high standard, over 9 years of hard work, and give it for totally free. It is timeless and irreplaceable.
As time goes by, GPL is turning into some sort of museum of motorsport. It currently has the 1955, 1965, 1966, 1967, 1968 and 1969 F1 mods, 1967 F2 mod, 1966 and 1971 CanAm mods, and the 1967 SportPrototypes. And soon we will add 2 more mods: the 1937 Titans and the 1971 SportPrototypes.
They are part of the 1971 SportPrototypes mod. This is WIP and so it has not been released yet. Some guys are working with the graphics and some with the physics. We have no deadline yet.
