Hello Sim Racers! Post 8 of the new weekly Competition System blog is now live for your reading pleasure. As always, Marcel Offermans takes the time out of his busy schedule to answer your community submitted questions about our Competition System within rFactor 2, and you can see what he has to say this week in the article linked below: https://www.studio-397.com/2021/02/competition-system-blog-week-8/ Please note, not all questions submitted this week have been answered, however fear not, these have been moved to a future addition of the blog. That said, please use the comments section below to submit any questions you would like to be answered next week. Enjoy!
why dont you guys extinct the qualy sessions, leave a server running the current content and use the best time for each driver to define the splits (something like what happened in gt challenge s2), people would use it to practice too
In the future we can see in the competition system mods that are chosen by s397, or as with the Alpine, will we have to not negotiate licenses and things like that? (I make this query as this maybe increase the quantity and quality of mods in the simulator) I've been wondering this for a long time but since the users being tested are selected for the betas, I ask it as a curiosity. Finally, thank you all for updating this section full of our whims every week.
I don't know if this is an error in how the results are displayed or whether it affects the way in which the results are registered at a deeper level - but there doesn't appear to be any account made for the number of laps completed. For example, a lapped car can be shown as finishing a handful of seconds behind the leader rather than a lap down. This happens at 'Casino', just in case it happens to be a circuit issue, rather than scoring system.
Will the competition system be more user friendly? I still haven't figured out how it works, so I'm not participating. When I enter, I download some file and that's it. What should I do next? Either I haven't found it, or there is no classic server join.
I'm quite harsh on the UI, but this doesn't sound like it's because of the UI. When you go to the competition page, what do you see?
i hope in new hotlap contest you guys add some more sessions, those ones only europeans could race due the timezone. or like I said before, leva a open server and use as qualy
There is a 15 minute window prior to the event. When you sign up for a series, and choose the next convient time to qualify or race, just show up within 15 minutes of the start time and a join button will appear. Make sure you have paid attention to what track being used, pre-load it at least once to build a cache that will speed loading and avoid the 3 minute time-out.
1, Are there any plans to incorporate features similar to iRacing's Relative? The current Relative feature often feels inconvenient in races with multiple classes. 2, Are there any plans to introduce features or plugins that limit the number of tire sets that can be used in the future?
In light of the announcement just now (https://www.studio-397.com/2021/03/announcement-motorsport-games/) we will be postponing the Competition System blog post for this week. Business as usual from next Wednesday with the latest edition, so don't forget to get your Competition System blog questions submitted in time for the next publication!
The Competition System will still be free even after the acquisition by Motorsport Games? Or you're planning to add a subscription system? Afaik wasn't the parent company Luminis that allowed you to run servers at no costs?
It has earlier been stated that besides the current rating system in the CS, there would be introduced some kind of safety rating as well. Given the variety within the platform and the goals to utilize this, I think it might be interesting to expand this a bit further so there could be a few different ratings related to different disciplines. This could be ratings for performance in hotlapping, sprint races, endurance races, different car classes etc. Not that there should be 10 different ratings but maybe adding a few extra? Personally my performance in hotlapping and endurance racing is not that comparable for example.
The only thing they said is that its both in the same rating. There probably wont be a safety rating.
In the competition blogs for week 5 and 6 they are actually stating that they are thinking about a kind of safety/reputation mechanism, and how this could be made. If it is going to be a visible rating or an underlying mechanism I am not sure of however. Relating to my initial post another person has also asked about team ratings which I could also find interesting, even though it might be hard to define if drivers are sometimes changing.
A question that many people are asking themselves, will there be a 24H of Le Mans with multiple splits that allow the ordinary user to participate or will it be an event closed to invitations only?
Regardless if it's transparent or not, a single factor or multiple, I think it's imperative that drivers who are fast and reckless are separated from drivers who are slower and cautious.
will there be kart races in CS? when will the pilot statistics page be implemented? will there be a detailed guide on how the scores work? the CS is the best thing I have seen in sims in the past 10 years, thank you.
there are plenty of fast cautious drivers as well as slow reckless ones. but I agree, nothing worse than spending half the race avoiding aliens. I worry about sandbagged. those who deliberately putt around during qualifying so as to compete against much weaker fields.
I mean, there are not many qualifiers anyway. Not qualifying still gets you top split. That means qualifying definitely is top split, which makes it hard to sandbag during q
