Valve just released an updated Steam Client that is causing problems in a lot of games that are using the workshop for content. The symptoms are that content keeps downloading every time you start the Steam Client (and gets erased again when you exit it). Several threads exist describing this problem on the public and developer forums of Steam. We are monitoring the situation, but it is not a bug we can fix on our side. We'll keep everybody posted here (updating this first post).
We are now talking to Valve about this, who seem to acknowledge the problem (with many games). I'll be back with more news as the story develops.
Valve has confirmed they fixed this issue in their back-end (which means that there is no new version of the Steam Client, the version you have should just work again).
well build v1109 is doing it, content keeps re-downloading item inventory every time you start the Steam Client. If i unsubscribe it still re-subscribs it. it's mad i tell you, like my PC is defying me.
LOL, i know. v1112 - v1116 is broken for me, it won't launch. so i'm using v1111 until i can move to a later one.
I've got the same problem with new UI and latest update of the game I think. It's really boring...Nothing fixed for sure.
Again and again files are reinstalled and reinstalled with a message to restart the game for being able to use the "new" content....I'm more than bored by this.
Not sure if this is a steam issue or rf2 but suddenly I cant use any official MP4 McLarens online, even creating a package for myself with this car doesnt work, my dedi selector doesnt see it at all I tried unsubscribing to all of it, resubscribing but nothing seems to work. Other cars work fine.
i have the problem now..that it want to redownload and reinstall the aston martin gt3 v.1.71 ...and it failes to install it everytime...but i have version 1.75 already???
not that i know...i have the virtual racers mod installed..but i unsuscribed it already and tried to download the aston new..but didnt helped
@Andreas Schmich find the vehicle's folder in your rFactor 2 Installed folder and delete it. And/or unsubscribe and resubscribe to it in steam inventory.
just discovered this, if steam keeps resubbing your inventory items when you've unsubscribed, just trick steam. 1.must be on latest version. 2.make sure all your inventory items are subscribed to. 3.go to C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\workshop\content\365960 4. delete all the inventory items folders or all the folders. 5.run rf2 and even though your subscribed to your inventory items they won't download again unless you do step 6. 6.if you want something to download just unsub then subscribe.
It's not fixed for all. One computer updates ok, the other one comes up with this. That will cost me a whole evening, with the amount of DLC and mods installed.
This is another issue. A skinpack or league mod you are subscribed to is causing issues, unsubscribe from these skin/league workshop items and it should work.
