Today the game suddenly stopped working it started with a "json failed to perform operation" message and somehow player.json was empty. Pretty weird as I had been lapping the Ring and Silverstone couple of times today. Now the game just won't get past the splash screen it just stops running. Event viewer shows the following. Faulting application name: rFactor2.exe, version: 1.1.2.2, time stamp: 0x5f914c0d Faulting module name: ntdll.dll, version: 10.0.19041.610, time stamp: 0xe5d7ed5c Exception code: 0xc0000374 Fault offset: 0x00000000000fed29 Faulting process id: 0x5a4 Faulting application start time: 0x01d6b6117f18d62e Faulting application path: D:\Steam\steamapps\common\rFactor 2\Bin64\rFactor2.exe Faulting module path: C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\ntdll.dll Report Id: 22b49068-19c1-4f35-b51c-ff1d7cea1d6a Faulting package full name: Faulting package-relative application ID: I tried a file integrity check. reinstalling the game and a windows reset and nothing works.
Move your JSON files from the player folder out to somewhere else. The plugin custom variables one especially will cause a silent exit, and tends to end up empty when the player.json does (through unrelated game crash, or seemingly sometimes just bad luck).
Do what @Lazza has mentioned then verify local files for rF2, sorry not at my home pc so can't screen shot that for you. Edit: found this link for verify files. https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=2037-QEUH-3335
@Lazza thanks that one did the trick. Why didn't I think of checking the other json files myself. That was an evening well spent.
