Hi all. Is there a way of moving the vehicle in the AIW editor when placing the car for pit spots, garage spots etc with out interfering with the menu? What buttons do people assign to move the vehicle? I'll move the car into garage spot & I then select a menu option. Do buttons need to be assigned? Thanks Chris
i did it like this: Moving the car around (without driving) is easy just hit the arrow keys and Shift and Ctrl. For added speed also hold down Alt. To rotate the car, hold down the number pad arrows and Shift and Ctrl.
it happens only when the mouse arrow is phisically on the menu, move it away from it and you can use the dafult keys without any problem
I´m on this as well for the first time in many years. Can´t remind how to get the birdeye view to place the garage/pit/start positions from a high position. Can anyone help my memory? I tryed to make a camera high above, but I seem to remember it is possible to make a top view in some way. Thanks for any advice.
Thanks. There is a lot of basic things i have to remember, about 10 years since I did some serious modding.
This AIW editor is realy up the hill I can´t save garage positions ( whys isn´t there a save button or ctrl S working) When I hit "back" it says: *=done, but I can´t get it working. Its like gessing the words in a language you could speak years ago.
…quick related question… When setting up the ‘slot’ type entries (pits, grids, garages) - if you leave the mouse over the menus and select a slot by accident while moving the view/car around etc., can you undo/deselect that slot or do you need to either redo all of your since-last-save work (or manually edit the AIW file to remove accidental slot entries…)?
I think not, you can repeat the selection and the new location will be corrected. Ever I'm wrong and the solution was to edit the AIW file. Maybe by ignorance of the Undo function
When applying the pits/garages. Sometimes you have to click the mouse near the arrows and then the scroll wheel works to move the menu up to reveal the save aiw button. It is a little bug you learn but no documentation would indicate that.
I have a habit of manually saving copies of the AIW at major steps as I'm working on them ( - copy, - copy1, - copy2). If something goes wrong I simply copy the latest back over the current AIW. A manual undo, but it's saved me lots of work many times.
