    Latest GT3 Updates (Includes BOP)
    gt3_2020_bop_forum.png
Endurance and GT racing has been brought up on the ethos of converging differing Grand Touring Car designs and shapes into an even playing field of competition. Nowhere else in the world of motorsport can you find such an eclectic mix of different cars, brands and design concepts coming together and competing on the same track, with similar chances of challenging at the very front of the grid.

As GT3 specification competition has continued to grow in popularity around the world, much of the success of the category has to be laid firmly at the door of the less than glamorous world of Balance of Performance, or BOP as it is more commonly known.
Always the subject of many off track debates amongst teams and drivers, BOP is a method employed by many championships to ensure cars of differing shapes and sizes can race together fairly within a common set of regulations, preventing the potential for runaway championship leaders and ensuring a fair shot of success is open to all brands within a series.

As in the real world, our virtual counterparts in rFactor 2 are also subject to these BOP restrictions, as unlike the real world counterpart, should a car prove to be consistently superior to its class rivals, it is rather easier for the sim racer looking to gain an advantage and select the fastest car than it is for a real world team to find hundreds of thousands of dollars to swap machines for the season ahead.

As such, here at Studio 397 we have been working incredibly hard to bring a realistic and fair Balance of Performance to the enviable list of GT3 cars currently in the simulation. Our development team and testers have pounded round the circuit for endless hours tweaking and refining the cars to ensure they retain their individual characters, their inherent strengths and weaknesses and their real world performance levels, whilst still providing an even set of ultimate speed in comparison to each other – just like in the real world!

Even though i don't yet own a GT3 car but i really thank you for clarifying which changes are BoP and which changes are physics update.
I do hope you guys continue to post in such detailed manner to avoid any confusion.
Thanks to this i think i get which changes were BoP to GTE update and which were physics update to GTE.
Just a simple question though ->>
How does BoP increase or decrease drag ?

they can make changes to the rear wing plane to add or take away drag. It’s so cars like the Be they can have their Massive wings but still produce roughly the same amount of drag as a car with a smaller one.

Are coming some adjustments in suspension geometry, please?
I always think, that caster are to low and in the GTE's all fine.

@Christopher Elliott So nice you said it twice:

This way nobody will forget that much of the success of the category has to be laid firmly at the door of the less than glamorous world of Balance of Performance, or BOP as it is more commonly known. As GT3 specification competition has continued to grow in popularity around the world, much of the success of the category has to be laid firmly at the door of the less than glamorous world of Balance of Performance, or BOP as it is more commonly known.

What does "Reduced engine inertia" really mean handling-wise? What are the implications of this adjustment?

Anyone please correct me if I'm wrong, but I think it's mostly noticable in driving away from standstil

Lots of people say the merco GT3 has bad physics / FFBs (I didn't).

I thought there MAY BE a major update on this car.

    Hi
tried only the Vantage, why add the mixture display if the car hasn't any option on it?
Watching at it incar I noted the ABS display the TC settings and the TC say nothing.

Thank you for the great update and the Bentley GT3 beast. I can't wait to test it!

Forgive him, and forgive us all. It's your own fault! ;) You did such an awesome job with the Ferrari GTE it's hard not to eagerly anticipate the GT3.

Like I always say to S397...I want more! No, seriously, thank you for the best SIM and content anywhere!

New Bentley is excellent, and the price is right :D

I also drove the Callaway, definitely feels a lot more balanced, no more washing about.

More GT3 cars please. MOAR! :)

I am very happy with the choice of S397 to improve the GT3 in terms of physics and BOP. Thank you.

Also, I'm sure you are planning to deploy your new PBR / new shaders graphics system, but could we find out if it's coming soon ?

I can't wait to see the result.

Keep up the great work !!
